Good food. Good portions. CASH only. We will plan to go back again. Good hush puppies. Looks like the plate to order is the fried shrimp.
Waited for an hour and a half to have dinner. Was well worth it! My family had fried hush puppies, shrimp, grilled fish and hamburger steak. Delicious food and Jen our server was top notch!
Came here based on the reviews and was not impressed. First,all the seafood was fried so if you want fresh seafood cooked any other way this isn’t the place to go. Second,all the food was fried in the same batter with little to no seasoning. Last,you need cash because they don’t take debit or credit cards. Hubs enjoyed his food
We visited O'Steen's with a group of 11. We went around 3PM and only had to wait about 30 minutes (which if you ever have been is a bargain). The meal was very good and the staff worked hard to seat and serve us. My wife and I both had the fried shrimp and they were great. Really enjoyed the hushpuppies and fried okra. All around great visit.
The real we come to St. Augustine is O'Steen's shrimp. They are fried to perfection and the pink sauce is amazing. Hush puppies are fried and huge. Service is top notch.
When we travel one of our goals is to eat at places that 1 we don't have back home and 2 that is not part of a chain. While this place meets both criteria! It has been years since we have been here and it is still was good today as it was back then. The shrimp is a must but for those of us who like chicken gizzards they are just as outstanding on their on. Save room for dessert because the coconut cream pie will knock your socks off (the banana cream pie is good also!). While this place is not hidden, from the visiting public, it is a jewel that we will be going back next time we are in the area.
I had the 9 shrimp platter with Cole slaw and fried okra. The shrimp were fried just right and the sauce they had was very good with the shrimp - skip ketchup. The clam chowder was very good too - just enough spice. Our server was excellent. The wait to get in was well worth it. I highly recommend it.
O'steens was recommended to us by fellow travelers at our hotel. They were so right! Best shrimp, golden fried, sitting on top of fresh cut French fried potatoes! They also offer a delicious marinated chicken breast with a side of mashed squash that was very tasty! Definitely worth a visit! Be prepared, this is a cash only establishment.
At one time I lived in Saint Augustine and there was not a week that I did not eat there...it's addictive. Then I moved. Still ate there, maybe not as often, but made it a point to make a special effort and would travel back. It is truly addictive. Special Saint Augustine shrimp, cooked perfectly. Who could ask for more? Historic note. Norton Bascom,husband of Marjorie Rawlings, author of "The Yearling" made it a special point to eat there on very regular occasions.
Always excellent. Always worth the wait. I have never been disappointed with O’Steen’s. They have the best shrimp on the planet, the lightest hush puppies, and the best sides. We never miss O’Steen’s when we’re in town. Stop reading reviews, get some cash from the ATM, and get down there for the world’s best shrimp. You can thank me later.
