Meehan's is a go-to staple of ours every time we visit St. Augustine (which is relatively frequently since we only live an hour and a half away). There isn't anything we've had that we haven't loved, but the bangers and mash are our favorite. This last time we went for the 4th of July and the chef decided to make peach cobbler for the day. It was a-m-a-z-i-n-g! We love the bread pudding, but definitely vote for the cobbler to become a regular menu item! Also, try their Irish Cream if you haven't. It's better than the "other stuff", just like they say.
The food here is good. Our server, Anthony, is tending bar and tending tables and doing a great job at both. Professional and friendly.
My wife and I just had lunch here while visiting historic St. Augustine. They play Irish music and have a full bar. The service ranged from average to very good and the place appeared to be fairly well-maintained overall. My wife said that her bouillabaisse, while it didn't have lobster or crab in it, was the best she had ever had. I wanted to have their chicken club however, all of their chicken is marinated in a spicy sauce and I couldn't eat most of the rest of the menu offerings due to seasonings so I ended up ordering one of their hamburgers, which was very good. (If seasonings like black pepper tend to bother you, be sure to ask questions about the menu.) Most of the sandwiches say they come with 'chips', which is actually french fries (like in the UK) and not potato chips. One negative was that I asked for extra salad dressing for my salad and they charged me extra for it but never let me know that I would be charged. They also have two imported (Irish & English) ciders and two imported (Irish & English) beers. We would recommend this place when you're in the area.
I chose this restaurante because of the views to the harbor. We quite liked it. The shrimps and fish are so fresh that basically melt in your mouth. Moreover, the prices are quite okay and the food was served very fast.
What a pleasant surprise! An Irish pub in historic St Augustine! Who would've thought?! Nice atmosphere, great food and the best service we experienced in all of St Augustine! We went twice in our weeklong visit! That says a lot! Enjoyed their porch and enjoyed their pub interior another time. Great burgers, great salads, cold beers, what more can you ask for? Surprisingly good job of recreating the pub-like atmosphere that I enjoyed in Dublin! Waitstaff has fun offering service, always pleasant.
Was looking forward to the oysters (per there website) when we arrived staff was very friendly.. We where told when we where sat the Oysters only came raw.. the oven was broken.. We ordered Chicken fingers as an App.. They tasted just like the fish they where fried In.. Very pricey for what what we got .. Ordered no alcohol drinks.. Bill was over $40.. for half dozen of raw oysters..2 cesars salads and the app
This place was recommended by a family member who visited here. We arrived in St. Augustine just a couple of hours before walking over. We were seated outside right away. Our server was pleasant and gave us spot on recommendations. Our dinner consisted of two hot bowls of the house clam chowder, a shared iceberg wedge salad, corned beef and cabbage, and chicken curry. Everything was delicious, our service was fantastic, and the view was beautiful. ?
I picked this place to eat for our last night here. We waited 40 minutes to be seated outside. It was super busy and crowded.I got the salmon and my boyfriend got the fresh catch. We got the fried oysters as an appetizer. Our waitress told us the kitchen was super backed up and that she's put the whole order in at once. It didn't take long at all, maybe 10 minutes later, the appetizer came out. Before I could get a bite, another lady brought us our food. I felt kind of rushed to be honest. It didn't seem like the kitchen was backed up at all.Food wise, the salmon was pretty good, the cherry sauce was interesting. My boyfriends fish was good as well. The oysters just tasted like fried breading, I couldn't taste the oysters at all. After tip and everything, we walked out spending $120. The food was okay, the service was mediocre. But, I left feeling sort of... "meh"?Was it worth it? I don't really know. It didn't "wow" me enough to come back and spend that kind of money.Plenty of other places that are delicious to try!
Service was rarher slow but the food tasted good. The batter on the fish was crispy, flavorful, and the fish was well cooked. The shrimp and grits was a huge portion with 10 large shrimp, tasty grits and is really garlicky - be aware when taking this home as leftovers as the whiff really packs a punch if feeling a tad fragile the morning after, but it sure does taste good! They have a good selection of drinks and cocktails but the wait time for their arrival was reeeaaaalllly long.
Had a wonderful lunch today. This was my second time eating here and today was even better than the first time. I had the catch of the day which was Mahi mahi, fried on a sandwich. The fish was perfectly cooked and the breading was light and crispy. Had French fries as our appetizer and they were very good as well.
