Went w a large family group, get a reservation! The service was good, they were very accommodating when we needed to move out of the afternoon sun. I had salmon w crawfish. Most everyone else ordered the blue crab sandwich which was huge and quite tasty Nice vibes
I got the special. Seared scallops, mushroom and short rib risotta with cornbread puree (if I'm remembering correctly). Super good!!!!! Also got the salmon curry empanadas and very very good! Perfect crust great flavor! I live in a seafood town so it takes a lot of creativity and skill to impress me the way the food at Catch 27 did.Bartender was very friendly and engaging. Made some great drinks. Great atmosphere overall. Please tell the staff thank you
What a great meal in every way! After a long day seeing the sights of St. Augustine, we ducked into Catch 27 for an early dinner. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive throughout the meal. I had the grilled chicken with grits (NOT your ordinary run of the mill grits!) and the hubs had shrimp and grits. The food was uniquely prepared, plentiful, and hot. (Oh, and the craft beers before dinner were great!). I really wanted to try a dessert, but the dinner was so yummy and filling that we didn’t have any internal real estate left! Oh well, maybe next time! When you’re in St. Augustine, be sure to catch a meal at Catch 27!
Catch 27 is easy walking distance from St. George Street especially by the City gate. Our experience was mediocre at best. We ate inside. Ordered the catch of the day which was a small portion of flounder with potato and asparagus. Presentation was meh. Fish was decent, nothing special. My wife ordered the crab cake sandwich served on a bun. The best part was the number 27 grilled onto the bun. The crabcake seemed mostly filler and mushy. Nothing to rave about. Was wanting to leave a rave review after checking out other experiences, must say we were under impressed.
Party of 4 - celebrating friends birthday, we're from Tampa. It was one of the worst experiences in a very long time. Web said they don't take reservations so we show up only to be told "sure we do" and put our name on the list with 45 minutes wait and asked for outside seating; the wait was not a problem. We get called (texted) and we get put in a cornier in the bar - ok, we'll deal with that. But it just continues to go down hill and considering it was supposed to be one of the best in St. Augustine it got laughable. Auto pilot server, no beverage refills, guess the bartender was shutting down! The food was terribly bland with little or no seasoning, my fish was supposed to come with a lemon butter sauce, must have ran out of that - wouldn't have been that big of a deal if they had seasoned the fish. My kids could have prepared this meal, plus what only tasted like boiled broccoli and carrots, I dont think they even salted the water for that! With regard to my wife and friends dishes, they were just as unimpressed but I'm not writing a book. I'd never go back there. We are really good tippers, it has to really crap service to leave 10% - but that was what it was for me. Server was tipped for his level of caring, but it matched the food. Who knows, perhaps we're just spoiled by all the choices in Tampa. I will make a recomendation though, Casa Maya did a great job - went there twice. Awesome tacos and mexi-eats, tasty margaritas and equally great service. Kevin T
Highly recommend Catch 27. We tried it for the first time today based on other’s recommendations and it did not disappoint! They offer many adult beverages and the red sangria was good (not pictured). The curry salmon empanadas were AMAZING!!! Their take on shrimp and grits with collards was full of flavor. The fresh catch was mahi-mahi with rice and the freshest veggies. Kids menu is limited but kid friendly options. We will definitely be back!!!
My wife and I always come to Catch 27 at least once when we come to town. This visit didn’t disappoint. They have the best red sangria and seafood. I had the crab cake sandwich and my wife had the blackened pasta with the mahi. We both really enjoyed our meals and the drinks. Always recommend this spot!
The food was delicious! Our server was impeccable! (Although I can’t remember her name ) My reasons for 4 and not 5 stars is this: the kitchen sent out the wrong tacos. First, I ordered chicken tacos and not fish, but ate the fish anyway. I’m glad I did because they were great. Second, the chef failed to inform the server that there was corn (a known allergen for a lot of folks) in the vinaigrette. I had already let the server know I could not have corn and had she known it was in the vinaigrette, she would have offered something else.I definitely recommend eating there, however, if you have allergies like me, go the extra mile in having the server make sure of all the ingredients in a new menu item.
We thought that this restaurant was going to offer an assortment of fish and it was recommended by our hotel and as the name would leave you to believe. We walked in the pouring rain to get here and were disappointed. The menu was one fish of the day and one other selection. The acoustics in the building were noisy and stuffy.
Had dinner on Sat May 14th on the patio. We could hear the steel band from the next restaurant so it was a festive atmosphere. Our server was excellent and paced the meal well. The food was high quality, fresh and flavorful. Great wine list. The donut bread pudding was a nice finish to a relaxing evening. Would definitely recommend!
