For the price/night one would expect a certain form of class, however this place lacks that in addition to basic hotel necessities: bath mats, clean tile grout, and clog-free showers. Additionally there was a mildly repulsive smell throughout the room. The check in/check out time is annoying if you are traveling. There is no place to leave your bags if you arrive too early to check in which makes no sense in a location such as this. Finally, the poor front desk girl was new and left alone during spring break. she did her best and deserves more from her employer. 10/10 will not stay again.
Beautiful hotel, new, clean and yes, modern. Even the elevator is nice! Very pricey for not on the beach or water, hence the 4, not 5 stars, but that's Sarasota. Professional front desk staff. Kind, efficient and friendly housekeeping staff.
All in all it was a pretty good hotel. However for a 4 diamond hotel why don't you have personal soaps? I have to use the same little pump soap as everyone else. The place is horribly lit. I'm surprised noones gotten hurt walking through the dark hallways. The beds are hard as wood slabs with pillows that deflate faster than a beach ball. On top of everything make sure your door is fully closed. We got a couple of rooms and all of the doors have to be slammed or pushed shut to actually close properly. Please if you stay here make sure your door is properly shut.
Beautiful property and reasonably well maintained. Front desk staff was very nice and helpful. Upon check-in the older valet said "you should apologize for your height and weight", which I took extreme offense to. I recently lost 120 lbs after nearly 2 years of hard work and a lifetime of being obese. I am rarely offended, but this did the trick and made me nothing short of angry. Looking forward to filling out this survey!
We stayed at the Sarasota Modern for a quick weekend trip this February. The room was clean and nice, and the hotel is unique in its decor and style. It was also quiet, which I liked. The pool area was beautiful, and the bartender, Erica, is extremely talented and customer-service oriented. It would be great if they had some hours of the pool that were kid-free so that adults could relax more peacefully. Valet is expensive per night, and parking around the hotel outside is difficult, so you feel kind of forced into it. We used valet one night, but they ended up charging us for 3. When we called to correct it, they did reverse the charges, so I was grateful they did the right thing. Front desk staff was mostly friendly, but we did encounter a couple of less-friendly encounters (i.e., being asked "are you staying with us?" as we were walking in to the lobby, and a representative telling my husband to grab sunscreen from a case that was locked). Otherwise, we did enjoy our stay and would go back again if ever in Sarasota.
Amazing place to stay, it's new aka modern I guess you could say, you really can't go wrong staying at any of these new hotels, *NOT RELATED* -- the only thing that sketches me out is when the News (which I would prefer not to watch too often) does their little tests to see if places actually clean or not. I hope they clean everything after each check out.
Beautiful MCM styled hotel. Check in was fast and friendly. We had a king overlooking the pool on the fourth floor. It had a nice sized balcony and the doors open up most of the way, extending the living area. There was a nice couch/lounger as well. Plenty of soap and shampoo type stuff. The shower was excellent. The on-site bar does great old school cocktails. The smoked old fashioned is outstanding. The pool is warm and saltwater. There are plenty of lounge chairs. Convenient to everything downtown; we walked to the main drag with plenty of options.
Our stay at the Sarasota Modern Hotel was absolutely phenomenal. We arrived early and Abigail stowed our luggage for us and recommended a great lunch spot just around the corner! The room was absolutely gorgeous and was walkable to many different restaurants. The staff were all great but Abigail and Shelty really went above and beyond for my husband and I. We will definitely be back!!
The rooms are clean and comfortable but the customer service is amazing!! Abigail and Shelty at the front desk are friendly and extremely helpful. We will definitely be staying here again next time we are in Sarasota!
The room we initially checked into was dirty. Coffee spilled down the wall, bathroom floor was not clean, the shower had mold and all the base boards have heavy dust ( my husband has allergies). We called the front desk and they put us in another room, the room was on the first floor and was nicer but still not completely clean. The couch cushions were off the couch and there was a pile of crumbs, the shower had soap spots that I wiped off as well. We were celebrating our anniversary and i just couldn’t feel relaxed in the room. We waited for almost 30 minutes for the valet to park our car, they only had one worker and a never ending line of cars and due to the location not a lot of room to pull out of the street. They also gave us 2 breakfast vouchers for the following morning however breakfast wasn’t served that day. The staff were friendly which was the only good part of our stay. They offered a refund but they only gave us 1/4 back of what we payed. We are definitely disappointed.
