We went to Sonny’s for supper. The food was served hot and the portions were perfect. I’m a small meal eater so I only ate half of my Cuban sandwich. It’s 4 am and I woke up thinking about the other half so much that I had to get up and put it in my air fryer. It warmed up perfectly, not a speck of grease and I am in heaven once again.5 stars isn’t enough for Sonnys BBQ on Tamiami in Sarasota. I ❤️U !!!!!
We are really happy with our first visit to Sonny's .. food was great and tasty! I recommend the Sonny's Sampler if are not sure what to have. Next visit guaranteed!
No drive through. Stopped and parked in lot and called in order. Great service and quick. The barbecue was just OK. Ordered chopped pork, 1 pound and mild sauce and a sauce with vinegar. Got a box of stringy meat, mild sauce and mustard sauce. Worse Sonny's I have visited for barbecue. Won't return. It was edible.
I love this place it's great I order take out all the time. But right now I am so upset. I ordered take out like I always have and the lady even asks what kind of bbq sauce I tell her. I get all the way home which is 20 mins away and no Bbq sauce. This sucks. Now Hubby and i have to go buy bbq sauce at the store just to eat our 32.00 lunch. Guess I will have to sadly start checking the bag if we decide to go back.
The young lady behind the counter was busy taking a to go order on the phone, so I was patiently waiting. It was nice of one of the servers to come over and write my order down. It was a young lady with short curly brown hair. (I didn't get her name. )My order was correct and food was good
I've been dining it Sonny's ever since I've moved to Florida in 1984. Me and my wife dined there yesterday and I ordered the half chicken plate. I believe the price was $13.99. I was thinking a half of a chicken would be a leg, a thigh, a breast and a wing. What I received was two small thighs and two legs. The most inexpensive half of the chicken. Consumers are rational. That is obvious based on the lack of customers we observed while dining yesterday. I used to like the salad bar, but that has been deleted. I believe they used to play country music, now it sounds like hip hop. The dining area is a contemporary corporate version of the way it used to look. I've only written about two or three reviews online. I think I'm writing this one because Sonny's has been a part of my life for almost 40 years.
Last week after a long day at work, I wanted a well cooked meal. I didn’t get that. The only thing that was halfway decent was the beans. Never seen chicken as dry as this was; the skin was so dry that it cracked into pieces and the meat was stringy. The ribs were overcooked as well. Whoever prepared my to-go dinner would never have fixed this meal for his/her family. I feel this meal would never have been served on the restaurant floor. I just feel my hard earned money meant absolutely nothing other than to help the owner make a dollar for the company.
I was here a few weeks ago with my parents and brother. We used to go to the one in Port Charlotte but it closed. The parking lot is not real spacious and it has some big potholes in it. The restaurant is well organized and food is delicious. Service is great when my little brother (18) has his server bringing his drink to the table before we put drink orders in. Staff is super friendly and attentive.
I haven't been to Sonny's in many years, but they're close by so decided to give them a try.I ordered the St Louis ribs, with fried pickles and corn on the cob. You can't really mess up corn on the cob, so that was good. The fried pickles were not crispy, and got soggy right away. So that wasn't greatNow the ribs. Supposed to be dry rub. But they really weren't seasoned well enough or cooked quite enough. It was Meh overall. I would probably drive further to get better seasoning and good barbecue.They clearly specialize in getting the volume out, which is not really my thing
great service and the staff is awesome besides the food was great always 100% we walked in to order and was home eating within 15 minutes amazing
