Coming from a half Korean girl, this place is amazingly authentic! The kimchi jigae tastes like “home”. A rare gem in Sarasota for sure.

My Korean Wife is Very Fussy About Korean Food. She Loves This Place! My Korean wife is from Seoul and a great cook. She is a very discriminating foodie. She loves the food and service at Shilla. It reminds her of the best restaurants in Seoul. It is well appointed, with well spaced tables. Very clean. We will make Shilla a regular stop now. You will love the food.

I'd never eaten Korean food (other than kimchi) before so wasn't really sure what to expect. So pleasantly surprised with the great taste of the beef bulgogi! It was really, REALLY very, VERY good!
I placed a to go order last weekend and the lady that helped me was so wonderful and helpful in making choices. The food was wonderful! Everything was hot and huge portions. I was very impressed with the quality. We are definitely going back and eating inside too. It was so quaint and everyone's food looked great! Love this local family owned gem
Finding Los Angels or NYC (or even Duluth GA) grade tasteful Korean restaurant in Sarasota is a wrong search to begin with. However, Shilla offers a unique value which you don't easily find even in Los Angeles, CA, NYC, or Duluth GA. To me, authentic Korean food means the taste that brings back my old memories. It can be from nice restaurants, street foods, or my mom's homemade meals. That being said, have you ever wondered what is like to eat homecooked Korean meals? Shilla is one of the rare Korean restaurants in US you can experiene. Some customers might complain Jjajangmyun or seafood Jjamgppong does not taste like authentic ones. Kimchi might taste different from what they used to eat from other Korean restaurants. To me, Jjajangmyun taste brought back my memory how my mom used to make it for me (used less oil and tried to make it healthier). I knew from the first bite, this wasn't the restaurant style food but it had a well balanced flavor. Jjajangmyun noodles weren't even the restaurant style either but I knew I was eating homecooked style food and was happy.Lastly, they don't even differentiate the charge on what kind of meat used on Jjajangmyun (you can pick either beef or pork, normally other restaurants charge more on beef). They also offer a bowl of rice for free if you want it. That shows the restaurant owner truly cares her customers. I am glad they survived pandemic last year and I am sure more and more customers will enjoy their food. Here are the tips:Parking: Free of charge and plenty of spacesFood: Homecooked style mealsAmbiance: Not a fancy restaurant but it is averageService: Attentive and personablePrice: Average ($$)
Great food and service. I've been meaning to try this place for a while, wish I had gone sooner. I will definitely be back. They also sell great kimchi at very fair price to go.
Great food. Our hostess took the time to explain the culture surrounding the food as well as explaing the dishes and making recommendations. The whole family wants to go back
Been coming here for years now, since they opened up! The best in Sarasota, for sure!!!! Everything on the menu is great!
