With so many take-out only Chinese restaurants around, finding a dine-in one is indeed a rare find. Shangri-La did not disappoint, and in fact, went above my expectations. The wonton soup was very tasty and had a nice amount of scallions and slivers of pork as well as fresh wontons. I could tell that the egg rolls were hand-made...not the frozen pre-made kind. They were so good I ordered more! An added touch with the fact that the Chinese mustard and duck sauce came in little bowls, and not in those take out packets. I love pork fried rice. It is my go-to dish at a Chinese restaurant. I ordered there special house pork fried rice oh, and it was delicious! Veggies, egg, and lots and lots of lean pork. I almost couldn't finish it, which would have been a unheard of. I highly recommend this place. The owner is very attentive and it shows in the way the place is run.

Food is always hot, fresh, and delicious and all of the staff members are friendly. The restaurant itself is small, but very clean and conveniently located right off I-75. I recommend Shangri-la to everyone in the Sarasota/Bradenton area!

Not impressed with the General Tso Chicken. The meat consistency is suspicious and the hot sauce can be improved in many ways.

It’s like stepping into another world, the food was amazing, best Chinese food I’ve had in 20 years and we eat out a lot! Service so friendly and caring! I would suggest you bring your jacket if you get cold easily, it’s pretty chilly in there, but in Florida that’s not a bad thing anyway.

If you are looking for the absolute Best Chinese restaurant in the Sarasota Bradenton, Venice area, you will enjoy Shangri-La. I have been a customer since they opened in '91, and the staff and the food (carry-out or dine in) never disappoint! This family owned and operated restaurant is a must visit.

Ordered takeout for Chinese New Year. They were extremely busy, and while our food was almost 30 minutes late, they did their best to accommodate, and the food was excellent as usual.

Went there for the last time today. Female hostess/manager was extremely rude. We ordered the PuPu Platter. After waiting almost 1/2 hr we got greasy and cold appetizers. After sending it back and placing dinner orders she comes to our table 15 minutes later and told us the chef would not cook for us!! Too bad as the other staff members are so sweet and the food used to be very good. If you see a woman with thick glasses and scarf on her head when you walk in, turn around and walk out! Many other restaurants in the area that are happy and grateful for your business!

Usually have a great experience with Shangri-La, whether I dine in or take out.Last night I ordered Vegetable lo mein and 2 egg rolls take out. It looked good when I got home and opened it, although not much vegetables. Only a couple broccoli, a few snow peas, and small flecks of nappa cabbage. BUT....it had absolutely NO FLAVOR!! C'mon, who is cooking?!It was like there was no sauce. No onions, ginger, garlic.... nothing to flavor the dryish noodles. The Egg rolls were fair at best.Too tired and hungry to take it back. Very disappointed ☹️. I usually love this place.

Almost Everything here is good, I mean that. Except the beef. I don’t know who the supplier is but I wish they would change to a better beef supplier.

It was the last night of our holiday in Sarasota and decided to go to this restaurant for dinner. What a great decision that was. All 3 of us chose the family dinner: one had sweet and sour chicken, another had pepper steak and onion and the third had lo mein with shrimp. For starters two of us had the wan tun soup and the other had the egg drop soup, followed by egg spring roll. The food was very tasty, freshly cooked and we shared a bit of everything. Excellent value for money. The staff were very friendly and efficient - and our server was Song Di. This is a very popular restaurant, particularly for take-out. Thanks for a great meal.
