Our friends who live in Sarasota took us to Shaner's when we came to town on vacation. This is their favorite pizza place and we now know why! Excellent tasting pizza in a quant setting. The bonus is that the owner is a former MLB pitcher who pitched for our hometown Minnesota Twins back in the day!
Delicious pizza
Pizza is like Chinese food; everyone has a favorite style that they think is the best. I enjoyed my first visit here and will likely go again but it is definitely not the best pizza in town (for me). The thin crust is a bit too thin having an almost matzo quality. But that aside, it's not bad.
Ordered three different pizzas for takeout. They made the crust so thin that they burned it on all three pies. Pizza sauce was about the same quality as any chain pizza place. Very disappointing. Anyone who says this is like good New York pizza has probably never been to NYC or any of the other boroughs. Maybe it’s as good as upstate NY pizza, but I’ll never know.
If you like thin crust pizza this is the place to go. Can't believe I hadn't stopped in there prior to this year but good things come to those who wait.
We had dinner at Shaner’s this evening. We eat at Shaner’s every time we are in Sarasota/Siesta Key…since the 1990s…simply the best pizza! Tonight we had the most horrific service. Our server took our order and that’s the last we saw of her. We had to flag her down to get another drink, we had to flag her down to ask for the bill, which she never delivered. We had to ask another server to ask her to bring the bill, but she never did. Then I had to go approach her as she was taking care of a problem at a different table to ask again for the bill. I left less than a 10% tip. I don’t think I’ve ever done that in my life!! You have to be really awful to get less than 20% from me. We got zero customer service and attention. The only reason I’m rating this a three is because their pizza is just the best.
Delicious thin crust pizza! Tasty, fresh Caesar salad too! Liked the salad dressing. Highly recommend! Lots of baseball memorabilia inside!
Reviews suggest thin pizza in describing the crust, but in fact, the crust is so thin, it is like eating a cracker with sauce and cheese on top....so thin that when I picked it up to go I thought the box was empty, it was so light. And, you almost need one large Pizza per person given so little crust. So I will not be going back.
As we travel we like to explore pizza offerings around the US. We saw on line that Shaner's had good thin crust pizza, we love crispy thin crust pizza! We asked for ours to be well done as we like a little char on the crust. Unfortunately we we got was a very flasid pale pizza. The outer crust was barely baked. The spaghetti and meatballs were very good. Just our preferred kind of pizza
Slowly going through the whole menu and declaring every new dish I order my all time favorite! Incredible pizza, inventive salads and drool worthy soup and pasta makes this my favorite Italian restaurant in town. I hope you win all the awards.
