I had the Healthy Linda and Hubby had the Hillside skillet, we shared a giant banana berry pancake… all delicious! Service was fantastic, friendly, and fast!
The service was absolutely terrible! I will more than likely never go back. We sat in a both for almost 20 minutes before we got our drinks, then waited about another 15 minutes for the waitress to take our order. We never saw her again after that until we needed our check. Another woman brought our food to us. My mom even had to get up from the table to ask a worker for a refill of coffee. All of the workers seemed so miserable to be there. However I gave three stars because the food was fantastic, shout out to the cooks you are the only ones keeping this place open.
Charming diner w/ delicious menu options and fantastic, friendly service. Outdoor dining available. Convenient to parking locations, and even if you can't find a spot directly out front, I promise this place is worth a walk around the corner. A personal favorite.
Came with a group bc one of our friends desperately needed a skillet breakfast. Did not disappoint! Everything across the table looked absolutely delicious. We all left with full, happy bellies.
Had breakfast here today. Two of us had omelettes with home fries. One had a Mexican crepe. One had eggs, potatoes and ham. Everything was hot and delicious. Service was good and they were busy.
Amazing food!!! I recommend trying the split pea soup!!! Bro one of their fresh juices!!! We also had the best service thanks to Natasha and her son Parker!!!
It was extremely busy. Long wait. Food was OK. I had a omelet and ate half. Made a good breakfast this morning. My wife had Benedict and also was OK just not like great!Excellent service considering how busy it was. I'd love to give higher rating but food was just ok. The hash browns were excellent. I gave most of mine to my wife. Her home fries did agree.
This first time experience of eating fruit crepes inspired me to learn how to make my own. The crepes are delightfully light and crispy, filled with generous amounts of fruit, and topped with strawberry yogurt, powdered sugar, and whipped cream. It was a really enjoyable and memorable meal.
I stopped in for breakfast on the way to a doctor's appointment based on the stellar reviews and #1 rank here on TA. Sorry, but I simply can't agree the statements like "best breakfast in Sarasota." Mine clearly wasn't. I placed a pretty simple order: two eggs over easy, crispy hash browns w/sausage gravy, sourdough toast, and orange juice. Of all that, the best was the sourdough toast. The eggs came out somewhere between over medium and hard, the hash "browns" were hash whites, barely unfrozen. A small dollop of tasteless sausage gravy was on top, and the orange juice came out of a reconstituted jug. I ate some of it instead of complaining, as I was a bit pressed for time to get to my doctor's appointment. It was edible, but barely average, and no place close to "best in town." Compared to, say, any one of the Broken Egg restaurants, with fresh squeezed OJ, eggs actually cooked to order, freshly grated hash browns cooked to order, and tasty sausage gravy, this just plain didn't measure up. Ironically, this may have been because the place is so busy that the kitchen just ignored my order and made whatever they wanted as a way of getting food out the door. I sat at the counter to avoid waiting in the line that never seemed to go down. But I would not do so again, as the hard chairs installed at an odd angle were uncomfortable. Net, when all this is added to the overall parking challenge in this busy Sarasota Memorial Hospital area, I just can't advise anyone else to go.
The Serving Spoon is like a second home to me! I live in the neighborhood and eat here 3-5 times a week. The food and service are fabulous. I always check out the specials board, especially on the weekends. At first glance, it seems like an old fashioned coffee shop, but let me tell you, the menu has everything from traditional breakfast to creative (or create your own) omelettes to huevos rancheros to fabulous French toast, waffles, pancakes, blintzes and bagels and lox. And that's just for breakfast. For lunch they have homemade soups, a great variety of huge salads, cold and grilled sandwiches, and even delicious burgers. Want a healthy meal? Try the quinoa power starter, the morning protein bowl, an egg white power wrap, avocado toast, a healthy salad, or drink your meal by ordering one of the delicious juices from the juice bar menu. I don't know where to start with the specials. There's always a "Sampler" which could start with a unique fruit covered pancake, grilled steelcut oats with agave, or stuffed French toast followed by 2 breakfast meats, eggs, and home fries. Their corned beef hash is actually made in house, not canned hash that looks like dog food!!!! My favorite special is the shrimp and grits. OMG it's better than what a fancy seafood restaurant would serve. I could go on. Oh! I almost forgot the baked goods: muffins, sticky buns, biscuits, and more, and even gluten free raspberry almond bars. Their locally sourced coffee is out of this world. AND they recently got a license to serve beer, wine, mimosas, and bloody mary's in case you're in the mood to celebrate! But the best part is the servers in this family run restaurant. Natasha is the owner and there is usually one or two of her 5 children working there. Plus the nicest gals you ever want to meet. During the "season" it's packed, but never more than a short wait. Sarasota Memorial Hospital is around the corner and many staff members eat daily at the Spoon, as well as Sarasota’s finest from SPD. You will be treated like a local and by the second or third visit, they'll know your name! EAT HERE!
