The first time we visited, the food was amazing, but the waitress (blonde young woman) was dismissive and mostly ignored us. I thought it was an off day, so when we visited again today to try other menu options- the food was what brought us back- the same waitress was just as rude. Although she was attentive to another couple outside the restaurant - a man and his wife- my wife and I, older women, were ignored. I asked for a carafe of water and the bottle was dirty. Without having any more contact with the waitress after she took our order and delivered the water bottle we were a bit miffed. Finally, a young man, Nico, came out to clear our dishes and collect the payment. He was sweet and apologized when we voiced our complaint. Once again, the food was fabulous but I will definitely ask for a different wait person if we go back, or just take the food to go.
Not great but still not bad either, stopped in one afternoon & got 3 different tarts, they were good but nothing to write home about, just ok. They sure didn’t look or taste like anything homemade. Other than those there was very little to choose from in their bakery case. It was basically empty. I’m no expert by any means but if I could have seen anything that looked tasty I would have ordered it just to try. But no such luck here….. Strange little “restaurant” if that’s what it is? It’s so tiny it’s hard to tell what it is….P.S. - For what little I did get it was way overpriced also.
The best bread and bakery in Sarasota, for sure!! Their croissants and sandwiches are so delicious that we'll never get tired of it. And please get something from the dessert display!! Everything in there is divine!
Invited a friend there to try it out and the service and food were terrible!Sat there for 30 minutes and no one came to take the order. After almost an hour they brought out the wrong order and the salmon omelet was burnt. One of the servers was extremely rude and said something racist to one of the customers. It was embarrassing and infuriating.Had to apologize to my friend for such a bad experience. Suffice to say will never go back again and will warn my family and friends to never go there!
Our go to place for breakfast in Sarasota. We go whenever we are there. As close to authentic French bread and pastries you can get. Always busy, but not hectic. Plenty of refills on coffee and never rushed. Run by a lovely French family.
The chocolate croissant ? was just like the ones I had in Paris. It was a great surprise to hear the staff speak French too. I wish I lived closer.
Absolutely the best coffee and pastries! I would have given them 5 stars if it didn't take us as long to order and wait for the food. However you know it's made to order!
I reviewed this place shortly after it opened and found the food wonderful. I had doubts that it would catch on, however, because the location seemed undesirable. I am happy to report that the food is still wonderful and the location hasn't kept it from attracting a large clientele. I have brought Europeans there who commented that the bread and pastries were comparable to those in Europe. You can order French specialties for holidays.
Although a nondescript storefront in an equally nondescript strip mall, this is a 5 star breakfast/lunch french bakery experience. The menu, decor, and waitstaff all have a unique french accent, literally and figuratively. Sampled everything from coffee, baguettes, and usual omelette/salad fare, and all are delicious with a unique french flair. But the croissants are to die for. Absolutely nothing to complain about and in our opinion the best breakfast stop in the area.
There's something about the authenticity of the family and crew that help run this facility. The sandwiches, breakfast, fair, coffees and pastries are absolutely wonderful. Whenever I'm in the Sarasota area I ensure to make a stop.
