I went on a date with my husband last night (May 2022) after I looked up some of the reviews online. Turns out they were true! BEST VEGAN FOOD YOU CAN POSSIBLY TRY. Even if you are not vegan, you should try it. We are vegan for 10 years now, we went to a lot of places and we tried a lot of different foods. Every single dish, drink or dessert was absolutely fantastic. I have to thank you both (mother and daughter that run the restaurant) for letting us have this wonderful experience and for share all the love served as food. Thank you Keren for the excellent service as well.Just a few tips:1- Make a reservation even if you think it’s not gonna be a busy night, so you make sure you got a table (both dining room and and cover outdoor seating are really enjoyable). And that also helps the restaurant to keep the great service.2- Reserve some time for yourself to spend at the restaurant. Everything is made IN HOUSE and from scratch. They use lots of organic and locally sourced ingredients, what is great. So the process can take a little more time than the fast food we’re use to.Our meal: white chocolate pistachio and mojito for drinks; baked feta, shitake escargots and French onion soup as appetizers; main course was house pasta with pesto (you definitely need to add arugula and mushrooms) and squash noodles with Alfredo sauce (really creamy and citrus notes); and for dessert we had the cake, the fresh baked coockie and the sorbet (the desserts were mind blowing!)Thank you again for that amazing place and food. You all deserve a Michelin star for sure!

One of the best vegan/vegetarian places I have been to.Most places still try to copy "regular" food and focus too much on using meat substitutes.Ka Papa offers a short but well curated menu of plant based dishes that does not overly try to emulate meat dishes. We had the French Onion Soup with cashew cheese, raw summer squash noodles with a surprisingly light cashew Alfredo sauce, sprouts and peas, and a plum-miso glazed charred eggplant with Shitake mushroom pasta, blackened sesame, sprouts and arugula. The two mains were spectacular. Flavours and spices on point but not overpowering. The Alfredo sauce had a light note of pepper and paired well with the peas. Most dishes are gluten free, some of the pasta can also be ordered oil free or raw (if squash). The restaurant is small and quaint. The staff was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable, always making sure that we get exactly what we are looking for.Al in all a great experience and we will be back.

After more than ten years of being vegan, Ka Papa is absolutely one of the best vegan restaurants I've ever had the pleasure to dine in, wow! Very refined, though not pretentious and tasty, tasty, tasty ~ I started with the Shiitake "Escargots', so sumptuous and buttery, they transported me back to my childhood (a dish I always got when my dad took us out for seafood). I suggest getting a side of bread to soak up the garlicky, white wine "nooch" (nutritional yeast - veganism's secret weapon) butter. Next up was the Pan Roasted Mushrooms ~ two smoked portobello mushrooms with a side of fine broccoli mash and baby tomatoes. Sitting on a bed of arugula, the mushrooms burst with smokey flavor and unexpectedly, the mash... oh my, so good and it complimented the taste and texture of the mushrooms beautifully. I finished with the Cake of the Night, described simply as "heaven on a plate" by my awesome server, Tucker, who didn't lie! No boxes were needed because each dish was returned to the kitchen with not a single crumb remaining. Appy and main were also GF, and there were many options for those riding that train. I'm looking forward to trying some of the other offerings such as the Plum-Miso Glazed Eggplant and highly recommend Ka Papa whether you are vegan or not, good food is good food and this place is great!

Liked the food, place and service. But the evening ended with the seven of us trying to figure out who owed what and passing cash across the table because the restaurant would not split the bill up four ways. Also, the automatic addition of a 22% tip was excessive. Bottom line I will not go back.

A truly elevated experience! The atmosphere, the staff and the food all had so much attention to detail. High end vegan dining at its finest, so so delicious! Their mushrooms are smoked out back and have a slight crunch that is so juicy and decadent. Also, squeeze in their "Cake of the day" it is heavenly! If you're Omni & passing by you should stop in too for a taste of something wonderfully delicious. We'll be visiting again!

We have dined here four times in the last 8 weeks and was very disappointed the last time. The one worker was the hostess, server and bar tender so expect to spend 1 1/2 hours for two people being served two courses and one drink. We ordered everything at once. The onion soup is usually delicious with a homemade cashew cheese but apparently they were out of the cheese last night so they served us a grated, packaged cheese instead. When the main course finally came, it was only just warm. Most disappointing was how we were greeting. There were only two tables taken when we arrived. We did have reservations because it was a birthday celebration dinner which we had noted on the reservation. We were told to take one of the middle tables for two which are under air conditioning vents and have very uncomfortable chairs for my bad back. We were told we could not sit in one of our regular end table with bench seating because they were reserved for larger parties and the restaurant was fully booked that Wednesday evening. Another couple arrived shortly after us, and they were seated at one of these tables…there are four of these tables. I asked the hostess/waiter/bar tender why they, as a party of two, were seated at that table. She said they reserved that specific table and I could also do that in the future. Again she repeated they were fully booked for the evening. When we left at about 8:00 after arriving at 6:45, one of the four desirable tables remained empty. Not planning on returning anytime soon and as a vegan, with few options in the area, I am very disappointed.

This was our first time to Ka Papa. We dabble in veganism, and this is hands down the best vegan restaurant in Sarasota. The watermelon with feta was so delicious- everything was fantastic. Tucker, our server was knowledgeable, courteous, attentive and very friendly. We will definitely be back, can’t wait to try their other menu options.

The most incredible meal I have had in so long. You HAVE to eat here. I would eat here for every meal if I could and I’m not even vegan.

very expensive for the food that was served, the waitress was very daring, by not asking how we wanted the account and giving a single receipt. Because there were several of us, I left the place very disappointed, slow service.

I would avoid this establishment. Food quality does not match price thereof. The menu is limited. The prices high for what you get.
