We both had Crispy Duck entrees and they did not let us down . Very crispy skin and moist meat underneath . Served with steamed veg and rice it was very good . My coconut curry sauce was not as "flavorful" as I would like but knowing the area I get it . Calamari was fried well and we ate every last bite . We tried one of The Thai sausage apps and it was flavorful but on the dry side . Service was nice as expected and the pricing was fair . They deserve their reputation for the best Thai in Sarasota .
Let me preface my remarks thusly: I love good Thai food; what they serve here unfortunately, is not that. The "Isan Thai Amazing Curry" was just pieces of meat covered in a bland peanut sauce, the pad thai was a mild mush of noodles, the duck was slightly better but nothing to write home about, same for the chicken satay. For dessert I ordered the mango over sticky rice, a wonderful and easy dish to make, and hard to get wrong, but they did... theirs was awful. Also, their prices are not cheap. Very disappointing.
I had the pleasure of experiencing a late lunch here today. I have to admit I was a little apprehensive about going to any sit down restaurant at this time of day since lunch is almost over, because maybe not good service or ran out of some of the best items on the menu, but I am happy I went to eat here, the server was very pleasant and accommodating the food was very tasty, we them her know we would desire every thing prepared in Vegan manner and that was no problem the server was familiar with what that means, I would certainly do a repeat & recommend this restaurant ?
Food was boringly mild. Curry was lacking in character and mostly coconut milk. On a scale of one to ten it was about a one for “heat”. Fish dish was very ordinary and lacked imagination. Also, didn’t appreciate being “upsold” on the fish dish which, when I pointed to it was then called the name of another dish which cost $5 more. Of course, I didn’t learn this until I was given the bill. All in all, I would never go to this restaurant again and, having lived in Thailand for three years, would consider the food to be lackluster at best.
This place always slaps. Haven’t had a single bad thing from Isan.Khao Soi is a unique dish I really like to get that I can’t find a lot of places. Creamy/spicy/sweet coconut curry with thin noodles and a protein of your choice.
one of the best thai restaurants i’ve been to in florida. for the amount of food and the price, it was absolutely unbeatable. the isan papaya salad was very spicy (as requested) and so fresh. the duck pad thai was so incredibly good and there was a huge piece of duck on top. most of the fat was rendered down to make the skin crispy and there was so much meat. the fried whole snapper, thought needed a little more sauce, was very crispy and i highly recommend if you like fish. the kao soi with pork was very creamy and rich. overall, i HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT
I had been wanting to try this place based on the reviews. Went last Saturday night. We got in before the rush. Place seems very popular on Saturday nights with many people who all seemed to know one another. We ordered panfried dumplings, panang duck, basil stir fry with seafood, and pork belly fried rice. I specifically told the waitress I wanted the stir fry to be spicy and thai hot. She said hot okay. I judge thai restaurants on how they handle this dish. Unfortunately they did not pass in my judgement. The sauce was not even mildly spicy. It was a red brown sauce that was like a sweet soy sauce that was sugary. I told the waitresses and they brought over some other condiments to add. They also explained that they don't spice it up for Americans. The pork belly looked like thick bacon cut up. (I'm spoiled by Indigenous which does a superb pork belly dish). The dumplings were delicious however the dipping sauce was a syrupy slightly thick sauce that again had that sweetness that the stir fry had. I really wanted to like this place and I’m sure other dishes might be delicious, but when they can't do this basic thai dish well, that's a disappointment. Had this same dish at Drunken Poet and they got the spice correct (although not as spicey as I'm accustomed to) nevertheless it had a nice spice to it. There are too many thai places in the area for me to want to go back here and drop another $100 plus tip. As others have said the decor is wonderful, wait staff pleasant if a bit overwhelmed on Saturday night, probably won't be back.
Great little find. Restaurant is in a mini strip mall, once inside it is actually quite large. Instantly the smell, music and decor bring you to Thailand. We arrived for an early dinner on a Saturday and were seated straight away. By the time we finished our meal, the tables were filling up quick. Service was friendly and prompt. The prices are very reasonable. We ordered papaya salad, pot stickers and thom kha soup for apps, drunken noodle w/chicken, yellow curry, and pad thai. All entrees were delicious. For dessert we had the mango sticky rice. The whole meal came to $92 plus tip. If you like Thai food, this place will be a hit.
Located in a strip mall, very cool decor. Good selection of wine. We had the fresh rolls, massaman curry, yellow curry, and stir fry. Everything was AMAZING. Yellow curry was by far the best (agreed by all). I loved all the veggies in the dish along with the chicken. I barely touched the rice b/c then I wouldn't have been able to finish the yellow curry. Seriously, I could eat that for breakfast/lunch/dinner. We will be back. The only negative was we paid our bill with cash and the waitress never brought us our change, so we had to go up and request it back. I typically leave 20% tip, my change would have been a 50% tip, Service was good but not THAT good.
Great find. Ambience is most authentic I've seen in the U.S. I typically spend 4-6 months a year in Thailand, much of it in the Isan area. Was nice to walk in and see the beautiful Thai decor.Service was great and the food even greater. I had Stir fry Chicken w cashew and my Thai wife had Larb and SomTom (papaya salad) Thai style. Enjoyed a nice cold beer Chang with the meal and topped it off with Mango/Sticky rice for desert.Next time in Sarasota will definitely visit again.
