We dropped in and got seated right away. The food was tasty and the staff was very friendly.
It has been a few years since we ate there. Now we have an abundance of good Thai restaurants but this no longer qualifies. we shared a shrimp appetizer that turned out to be a version of deep fried minced shrimp. I ordered the duck . it was awful. First, the portion size was minuscule but maybe that was a good thing. The duck was filled with bones and overly sauced. I left hungry and these days thatâs near impossible. My wife had the vegetable Tempura which was just okay. For a longtime staple of Sarasota Main Street dining, they have not kept up with the times. Ownership needs to take a good hard look at the food they are serving, especially at premium pricing.
Great menu, sushi choices and Thai choices. Our dinner was excellent and we will definitely be back.
as always drunken Poet has the best sushi in sarasota.The place is always quiet and the service is always very good.
Even though we had a reservation we had to wait like 30 minutes before being seated. The restaurant is small and cramped and was uncomfortable for a party of 4. The food wasnât great. The edamame was so over salted. They literally dumped salt on top of it. The sushi wasnât great either. I wasnât impressed and wouldnât go back there . Our waitress was very nice through.

As others have already acknowledged in other reviews, this cafe/restaurant is an absolute rip off and poor customers service. Firstly, we were ushered to our seats in a darken restaurant and immediately asked what starters we wanted, no real introductions, very poor customer service at the start, which continued throughout the meal. We ordered our starters and only 2/3 arrived. The chicken satay sticks were dry and spring rolls were tasteless! I found a hair in the food just for good measure. The overall presentation and taste of food is of a low standard. We were asked to order our food quickly as the were expecting a surge of patrons ( not true). We ordered 2 main dishes and pad Thai… omg the portions sizes was not dinner sizes, it was a small amount of chicken/beef filled out with poorly cooked cheap veggies. I was still eating my main and the waitress cane over and started clearing my husband & sons plates, so rude!! Each dish cost approx $20, absolute rip off!! Not worth it. The food was tasteless and presentation poor. The dining experience is not good. I would urge people not to eat here. The staff genuinely do not care. This place just wants people in and out in the shortest amount of time… whilst taking your money. We left feeling shorted changed in every regard! And of course $100 lighter (we had no alcoholic drinks just water)!!
Rice in sushi was mediocre, nothing really stand out as really good

Great lunch spot in downtown Sarasota! I ordered two rolls from the lunch menu for $15 which is a total deal! Both the spicy salmon roll and veggie roll were made perfectly! I hope to go back and try out one of their special rolls because they looked insanely good! Not the cleanliest restaurant but not gross by any means. Great decor, super cool to look around!
