I was searching for a local restaurant that served while New England lobster and steamers; so happy to find Captain Brian’s. Unfortunately I was not totally impressed. I grew upOn the water and stomped for steamers ( piss clams) and enjoyed all of New Englands sea bounty . Steamers don’t have to be dirty! The ones served to me were dirty and seemed haphazard , some broken, one not opened… like no one looked at them before dumping onto a plate. The Lobster was sliced in half ?, the tamale was missing and it seemed like it was “ washed” out ?? Eliminating flavor. Disappointing. Short on lemon slices too. No bread or rolls, baked potato and spinach sides were nice. All in all, it was just OK. I would go back for other seafood but not steamers or lobster for sure !

Extremely good seafood. Some of the best Calamari ever. Prices are comparable to portion sizes. Tried the combo platter, all was good but small portions. The staff was very friendly. Dining area was clean. There is a market area on one side, seafood price we competitive. Not the place to impress guests, but a good restaurant for a family, friends meal.

Had a great experience from start to finish the staff are very attentive and informative of all the menu so feel free to ask questions. I had the monkfish breadcrumb battered and sauteed in the garlic butter lemon with capers it was perfect. For sides I had a side salad and coleslaw very good. The menu has it all for seafood but they were out of stone crab I really wanted some and they also have huge live Maine lobster available or clams oysters swordfish etc... They also have a fish market with great offerings like smoked fish and dips to take home. GREAT PLACE! 2nd visit three pound lobster fresh from Maine absolutely amazing!

This place was recommended to us by our hotel manager. It wasn't far from us but we still needed to drive. He said the exterior looked a little like a dive but the food was very good. I enjoyed my seafood chowder and my husband had a poboy. We enjoyed our dinner and had excellent service.

We had a great dinner today at Captain Brain's. Restaurant just outside the SRQ airport with fresh seafood market in the restaurant. They have stone crab (when in season), Grouper, snapper, lobsters, etc etc. The food was great and the prices were surprisingly low. My daughter got 2 big pieces of fish and potatoe wedges (thier French fries) for $4.95. The Grouper, and fried oysters were great with a nice light breading. The Blackened Chicken was some of the best I've had. Recommend thier Blackened seasoning. Definitely an older demographic as far as customers but we had a great experience.

We heard about this restaurant from our check in person (Karie) at the Marriott Residence Inn. We actually ate our first dinner there when we drove over in. We went back and had our last dinner there before we flew back to Utah. Everybody should taste their fish dinners and check out all of the awards Captain Brian’s has earned. The staff were very friendly and personable. There was a guitar soloist playing on Friday night.

We never leave Sarasota without a lunch at Captain Brian’s. It’s a popular place, but we’ve never had much of a wait. The menu is extensive, the prices are reasonable, and service is good. I’m obsessed with the clam strips, but there are many other options and I keep intending to try them!

My meal was excellent and service was friendly but for a simple dinner with two sides and a single piece of fish and a soft drink was over $30. I know prices are up everywhere but this seems overly expensive given it's located in a strip mall beside of an airport rather than an oceanside restaurant with a view and balcony.

Obviously a local's favorite packed at 5:30 on a Monday evening. Evident before we even ordered. The meal didn't disappoint. Highly recommended!

Best seafood in Fl. If your from New England. I plan on making it a weekly visit. Omg the fried clams with whole bellies r to die for
