There are few very nice restaurants where you can dine in a calm and peaceful atmosphere and quietly chat with your dining companions--Thank you Bijou
It was a wonderful evening. Food was delicious and ambiance was perfect! Loved everything about it and highly recommend. Itâs rare to find a restaurant that has beautiful white linens and fine stemware for wine. The live music was extra special. Canât wait to go back.
Great upgrade/renovation...food was excellent although a tad pricy and the menu was somewhat limited. But going the route of narrow and deep for menu offerings isn't bad as long as selections fit your taste. Personally I really would have liked the lambchops from the "winter" menu but not available. I would suggest that you add at least one domestic beer to your offerings and what's wrong with offering Jim Beam?
Sophisticated dining experience. Finally a venue in sarasota where you can have a conversation comfortably. Well trained and pleasant staff. Food very good. Suggest 1or 2 traditional entree and appetizers for less adventurous diners.
Visited Bijou on a Sat night before attending cabaret at FST Had a wonderful meal My wife and I ordered from the summer fixe price menu ($45)-I had the chicken scallopini in lemon caper butter and warm potato salad. The chicken was pounded thin, lightly breaded and the sauce was subtle but very tasty. The potatoes were exceptional. My wife had the shrimp scampi served over house-made Cassarecce and she gave thumbs up to both the shrimp and the pasta. The salads and desserts that accompanied the entrees were both excellent as well. The salad was a good size, had an ample variety of appropriate ingredients for a Mediterranean salad and the dressing was very tasty ; it avoided the over use of salt and spices that I find at many restaurants for this type of salad. The dressing enhanced but did not cover up the ingredients. One of our guests ordered the soft shell crab. The crab pieces were very large. When the server brought his plate over, he asked if there was some sort of sauce sauce that he could use with the crab; shortly after, the chef actually came over and brought him a dish of a sauce had just whipped up after my friends request made it to the kitchen. By the "clean plate test" he loved it We sat in front of the evening's entertainer who played smooth jazz music We had not been back to the Bijou for a few years and we will not make that mistake again.

Waited to get any attention from a server. Soft shell crab entree was beautifully presented, but bland. It needed a sauce. Very disappointed in the Caesar Salad- no croutons and no anchovies. We miss the classic Bijou version.
Iâve had dinner at Bijou Garden Cafe three times since it changed hands. The renovation to the restaurant is fantastic, I love the look of the restaurant now, but the food is just mediocre, I have not raved about the food at the Bijou for a long time. Iâm planning on watching your Chef tonight in the Food Network, maybe Iâm ordering the wrong thing. I had the Snapper last night, it was very bland, sitting on a top of lots of hard carrot slices, zucchini, and yellow squash with one fave bean! No rice or risotto, which would have made the dish more complete. The main thing Bijou has going for it is that itâs across the street from the Opera House, itâs a very convenient restaurant.
We just got back from Paris and Lyon. After eating at some of the best restaurants in the world, where could we eat in Sarasota? Now don't get me wrong, Sarasota is a city with great restaurants. We always have choices between outstanding restaurants with high level cuisine. We were dying for great French food, and we got it at the Bijou Garden Cafe. We got the Fixed Price for $45 and paired it with a bottle of Pino Grigio. I had the chicken and my wife had the shrimp. Both were outstanding. It is now on our favorites list.
Best mussels in Sarasota! Very nice fixed price dinner menu. Loved the chicken and pork chop. Crème brí»lée was excellent. The renovation of the space is perfect. Service is excellent, as always. Will be back soon.
