A visiting newbie in Sarasota on the 4th of July weekend, we stumbled on this nifty little nook of a shotgun pub in downtown Sarasota called 99 Bottles Taproom & Bottle Shop. The name instantly reminded me of my student's drunken days: 99 bottles of beer, 99 bottles of beer on the wall, la-la-la... I'm sure you were part of that song at a few long forgotten benders years back. Anyway, it is a cool hangout for locals and a warm welcoming venue for out-of-town wanderers, like me. They have (I would guess) a variety of 99 funky craft beer on tap from around the world, including Funky Buddha beer, and an array of wine that certainly would please any wine connoisseur. They also serve great finger foods to bite along while enjoying your beer or wine: Homemade fresh NY bagels, sandwiches, toasts, flatbreads, and custom-crafted pizzas to your liking. They even have a locker club where one can rent a locker and store your special stash of brew or wine.
Brent and Kevin are GREAT bartenders and beer geeks in the truest sense of the words. 99 Bottles cares about their taplist as much as I do about the one in my own Taproom. If you're in Sarasota and looking for great beer, great people, and a place that (at least to me) feels like home, you couldn't ask for any better than 99 Bottles. 6 Stars at least.
Great experience. In town for one night and wandered in to find an incredibly friendly and helpful bartender who offered good advice on places to go and information on the history of Sarasota. An altogether pleasant evening. Highly recommended
Wanted to try a new place. Saw that Circo next door was packed so gave 99 bottles a shot as they had drinks and food and no one was there (now I see why). We sat outside as it was a nice day and ordered a round of drinks and tried to order off their bite menu as we were hungry. We were told the kitchen isn’t ready yet even though it was after the time stated. No worries though, we saw a Whole Foods next door so we could grab something to hold us over until they figured out their kitchen issue. Someone from our party went and grabbed a couple finger foods, we continued to have our drinks, then a staff member came out and told us we couldn’t have the Whole Foods food there even though their kitchen “wasn’t ready” and we grabbed something to hold us over we explained and wanted to continue to order drinks. They said sorry that’s our policy so we paid the bill, left and won’t be coming back. Do yourself a favor and go right next door to Circo, it’s a great atmosphere, friendly and amazing food.
The only reason I visited this bar was because of my untappd app. I read the reviews about the wine and beer bar and most people said it was over priced and Felt more like a wine bar than a place to drink beer. Everyone was right. The staff was good enough for me when showing their knowledge of beer, but talk about a over priced place to have a beer. Sheesh! I drink a lot of craft beer from all over the country and this place inexpensive. Its like buying beer at a stadium. Except this stadium is a wine joint. I felt like I walked into a library it was so quiet and non social. Not really a craft beer atmosphere. Good beer if you are willing to pay for it. 3 out of 5.
Kevin was amazing. He knew everything about every beer I asked him about. The service was great just like the beer. Can’t wait to bring all my friends here
99 Bottles is my favorite bar in Sarasota. My twin brother moved here and every time my family and I visit this is our first stop for fun. The staff are knowledgeable and always a good time, I'd easily recommend to anyone! ?
We used to love coming here but, in the last year, they significantly raised their prices. In fact, some beers costs upwards of $15 a pint!!! That’s more than downtown NYC or the Las Vegas Strip!! Absolutely ridiculous! So, we won’t be back!
Great beer selection, very good wine selection, the pizza Sunday Monday nights is top shelf. Equal to the best in town! I was impressed by their offerings, and they also have a bagel breakfast Saturday and Sunday mornings, which I haven't tried yet. Supposedly a real New York bagel! Will definitely return,. The service was excellent as well
What a place! Bottles of wine and beer (also cans) lining the wall on the left, with hats, growlers, etc mixed in, and a bar with several taps on the right, plus a couple of coolers just beyond that. The selection is impressive, there's something for everyone, and based on my first visit, the friendly staff is happy to help you find what you're looking for.I was sent home with a menu that showed which specials are on what nights, and the best looking bagel brunch menu I've ever seen. I can't wait to go back!
