I’ve always enjoyed going to Carmelita’s since moving to Florida 4 years ago from Arkansas but yesterday we decided to do takeout for our anniversary since my hubby was feeling under the weather. I’ve never in my life ordered cheese dip at a Mexican restaurant and had to PAY for chips to go with it. But I saw that on the menu so we had chips at home, no biggie. But then when I went to pick up, I asked if they had put salsa in the bag and they said no, you have to pay for it. I didn’t even take my wallet in because I paid for my $34.00 order online so didn’t think I needed it. So I bought 3 meals and a cheese dip for my family and was told you ONLY get “complimentary salsa” if u are dining in but unfortunately due to sickness that’s not always an option. Very disappointing! So $4.99 for the cheese dip which if u want chips is another $4.99 then if u want salsa it’s another charge for it. Unbelievable. We eat there a lot but this is definitely was a turn off. The Mexican restaurants we are used to if u order a cheese dip u get chips and little small cups of salsa with them ESPECIALLY if you ordered meals also. Unfortunately prices kept going up but what you get doesn’t match it. Disappointed as we won’t be going back there again.
It was good it just lacked a lot of flavor. I still ate everything on my plate. Once I put lime on the fish tacos, it helped make them bearable. They were dry before. Chips were okay could have been more fresh.
Server was awesome and as always food was great!!!!!
Every time we come to St. Pete, Fl we make a point to always visit Carmelitas. They never disappoint! The flautas are made the way they SHOULD BE... soft and fluffy! The tacos are so huge! The entrees are plentiful. Service is good and so are the drinks! Reasonable prices, too. Highly recommended!!
I had high hopes of going here. Salsa and chips were excellent (better than nearly all other r mexi an joints I've been to). Food prices are slightly high. Portion sizes are small. There is no liquor here (aka no margaritas). There is only beer and wine. Service was relatively inattentive. Speed of bringing out food was incredibly slow particularly on a not very busy evening. There is plenty of seating inside. There is no outdoor dining area. There is free parking, bit the lot can fill up easily.Churros were the worst you could ever imagine. Super over fried, hard, and no cinnamon sugar.
Very disappointing after spending days at the beach and looking for something to eat away from the beach. Wife had Fajitas, which is the only thing she eats at Mexican restaurants and didn't cared for them. Her Fajitas meat and chicken looked like had been cooked before and put together on a hot plate with onions to make the dish. Had no seasoning nor sauce. When she returned the Fajitas the server couldn't believe it. I had the stuffed peppers and they tasted alright. I do recommend the sangria. It was very good. My wife had a house margarita but been a wine based tequila she wasn't too thrilled about. The chips and salsa are very good and even better is the hot salsa.
great food wait staff was great, definitely coming back
Have been going here for 19 years. Today the service was great. Taco Tuesday lived up to its name. Food and salsa was very good..
Tremendous experience at Carmelita. We enjoyed it so much that we had to add it to our favorite restaurant list in the area. The service is as excellent as the food. Amazingly great. Highly recommend this place ?P.S. Mexican Pizza is delicious ??
