I can see this place being a really good seafood restaurant and the reviews seem to bear this out. Cool building and nice outdoor seating area. I ordered their Seafood Gumbo and it took forever to arrive. When I got my food and ate it....maybe 1/4 of it I put it aside. Not very good. BBQ & Gumbo are my specialties and their Gumbo didn't make the cut. My friend ordered fish of some kind and said it was very good. I plan on trying them again but will avoid their Gumbo.
Cool little place with delicious food and plenty of it. I had garlic crab clusters, even though they were so good, I was only available to manage to eat half of them. The sweet waitress brought me a box and bag to bring the rest home. My husband had a salad that he totally enjoyed. It was an enjoyable evening in an old cracker house eating yummy food with great service.
I was really disappointed during my family's last visit here. The place is normally pretty good, but there was a serious fly issue this trip. It was more flies per cubic foot than I've ever seen in my life anywhere. We literally picked our food and ducked out as soon as it arrived. They had triggerfish on the menu and it arrived looking more like fish sticks. We've been several times, but after that trip I'm pretty sure we won't go again.I can think of about 10 things that could be done to fix the fly issue and maybe moving to a different table would have solved the issue (which was offered) but unfortunately the damage was already done and the atmosphere was ruined, especially for a seafood place. They do a good job preparing a seafood boil, for sure, but I don't think we'll be going again.Update 6/22: as a customer, I don't feel it's my responsibility to notify "management" regarding the status of pest remediation efforts. However, we did talk to "management" the day of and called in the next day where we were told they were unreachable.Update 6/30: Owner felt bad and issued a refund. They also have evidently upgraded their pest mitigation efforts. I upgraded the service and atmosphere scores to reflect.
Don’t waste your money or time here. Truly disappointed with my experience. I never leave reviews but something needs to be done here. I think my food was spoiled by the taste of it. The potatoes and corn are unseasoned. The fish sticks in the freezer section at Walmart are better then this place. COMPLETELY infested in flies. I’ve never seen so many flies in my life. They keep the trash cans right next to the tables with no covers so flies and bugs are just taking over the outdoor dining section. There’s no control of management here. I even asked for the manager and was ignored. One of the servers rolled her eyes every time we asked her something. I will not be returning and i HIGHLY suggest you don’t go here.
Okay first time here, I'm not a big fan blue crabs but I saw a lot of people eating them so they must be good here. I ordered the steamed oysters clams & shrimp . The menu on Google maps describes this as 12 oysters 12 clams and 1 pound of shrimp. The price has gone up to 50 bucks now and the portion is smaller. The clams and oysters were overcooked to the point that they were rubbery. This is mostly an outdoor restaurant and they do try to keep the flies away but I was shoeing them the whole time not the experience I was looking for.
Went out to eat to peace river seafood and it’s was amazing had such great food and awesome service.we got the night out everything went really good .
Love this place! You can see the crabbers pull in while you eat with FRESH blue crabs. The food is excellent & the environment is fun & friendly. Has the awesome old Florida fresh seafood look & feel which is rare these days. Definitely recommend!!
If you want fresh seafood Thai is the place to go. Had the night out and was amazing! My server Shannon was also amazing as well.
May is soft shell crab season in Florida and I called around to see if they had any. They did. I live here but had never been to this restaurant because I am originally from Georgia and prefer to do my own seafood boils , but the soft shell crabs drew me in. I like rustic, but the plastic ware they called knife and forks were ridiculous. There is plastic and then there is unusable cheap plastic. The three crabs were tiny but delicious and cooked beautifully. The one potato you get was rock hard and seriously no where near cooked. The half an ear of corn was tasteless with zero seasoning. Both veggies were cold. I guess I’m going to be making my own crabs unless I can find them somewhere else.
Ordered seafood dinners fish was not cooked, lobster had sat in a warmer for a few hours, corn was soggy, and the shrimp were over cooked. Wait staff was very attentive.
