panini was soggy, the boubon burger was too sweet, lobster bisque...was well... cambells tomato soup with some tiny bits of lobster. great service, great view along the boardwalk..took pics of a manatee 15ft off boardwalk.

This is a well-known place in Punta Gorda that is connected to a motel that has been updated and is pretty comfortable. Actually, pretty much all of Punta Gorda was updated after the hurricane named Charley blew through the seaside town, way too slowly. This restaurant is on the water with beautiful views of the wide bay and gorgeous sunsets. Soon you'll be able to enjoy the twinkling towers of Allegiant Airlines' resort now under construction "OTB" (Over The Bridge). Inside, the restaurant is cute! Parts are reminiscent of mid-century dinner decor while other parts are more SW Florida contemporary "Beachy". There was live music. The musician was pretty good. With all that going for it, how could it fail? This restaurant, last night, failed to serve a table of 5 adults good food with a smile. They failed the basics. Service was terrible. For example, our server took two orders for sushi and did not bother to tell us the kitchen was already working on a large order and there would be a long wait. After the sunset, another employee did tell us there had been a big order. The bill was over $400. That did not satisfactorily explain why no one had told us we would be waiting so long. And, we were told they were starting to work on their backlog. That was our table and many others. Obviously, they were too cheap to hire enough staff. About the only thing worse than the service was the salty tasteless soup, burger, and special-of-the-day pie. The strong, hot, black coffee and key lime pie would have been fine on their own. In other words, this is no longer a cool local place to go. Hurricane Charley's has become a tourist trap with sunsets, terrible food, impersonal service, snd inflationarily high prices.

This was within walking distance of Four Points Hotel along peace river. We stopped to eat lunch before our flight out. You are able to enter at the bar by the river but were instructed to enter the building and be seated by the hostess. It was a little frustrating to have to walk in, stand in a line to be walked back to the bar area where we had started out at. Once we were able to get seated the service was good and the food was decent. It does have a nice view of the river. While eating lunch we did see several dolphins.

Outside seating had an hour wait so we decided to eat at the bar and found seats almost right away. The service even at the bar was AMAZING! I am super impressed !! The food was really good. Such an incredible atmosphere. We got the Lobster Overdose , which included two rolls, lobster bisque soup and coleslaw. We ordered both the hot butter lobster roll and the cold mayo lobster roll, both were incredible! The lobster bisque was a little spicy and definitely had a kick to it. The crab cakes were so good! Would def recommend Hurricane Charley's

Very expensive for lousy food. Ordered 12 ounce Ribeye which had 6 ounces of fat and grissel. Wife Ordered lobster roll and cup of chowder (no spoon!). Barely enough lobster to fill the bottom of the roll.

Had a DELICIOUS lunch here on our way to the airport. I recommend this place as a place with a great vibe and great service.

Drinks were weak but tasty, all food over cooked maybe we should have had sushi. Crab cake was crab flavored breading over cooked looked like a burger. Staff was pleasant but did not introduce themselves. Best thing was the sunset.

Charley's is a fun place with nice waterfront views. They have live music, happy hours and lots of seafood. No reservations allowed in most circumstances.
