Took my Son and his wife here for their Anniversary ?. We all LOVED this place. Food was delicious. Staff was friendly and happy. Nice to see happy employees. It makes you look forward to how wonderful your meal is going to be. Because the staff help set the atmosphere for the meal. Great job. Being New, After all the small kinks are worked out . This place is going to stay packed. Prices are reasonable too. There was 5 of us. Our bill came out to about $20 per person. We had drinks too. Y'all Rock. Can't wait to come back here.❤️

In short, WOW!And the details. Papa's pulled no punches on the design of this amazing and welcome cantina. I would say a thorough investigation of this place inside and out is a must. I'm talking full on up, down, left, right, back, front everywhere. Little details worth the enjoyment. Plenty of inspiration in the many paintings, seating options and plant placement. Usually not something worth mentioning. You can tell this place has vision. And the food. Yes, they have horchata (perfect blend). Yes, they have Charro beans (real pintos). Yes, they have elote (street corn). Yes, they have real churros (crispy edge, soft center)! The cheese dip is nice and spicy. The salsa is refreshing. The carnitas has a perfect char edge. The bisteca is very savory. The barbacoa is perfect with the onions and cilantro. And those white corn tortillas, they have to be made fresh. Perfection! The rice was also great.Rarely do you find a gem that is perfect in every corner. Papa's has it all. Even the music is festive and a nice volume. The humble staff is very polite and cheerful.I would say Papa's is the Pensacola authentic Mexican food at its finest. On par with the likes of Texas, South Florida and the baja coast favorite taquerias. If you have been to Mexico and miss that authentic street favorites or had the best in your favorite dive across the states, Papa's will do you right! Thanks for the awesome lunch. Can't wait to try it all!

5-27-2022: first time here. Beautiful decor inside out. Very clean. Upon entering we were greeted and took to a table. The negatives: I would have preferred being asked; table, booth, or high top however, I was not asked (I should have asked for a change…The high top is not for large people like me plus the foot rest was loose) (Air conditioning was out and being repaired but no problem). All issues but fixable. The positives: plenty of seating inside and out; good prices; good selection; good portions; heavy duty flatware and plates; fast service! Check out the pics ?

I was excited to go to this place and try mostly the tacos since I'm always on the search for the best ones... this ain't it. From the variety of "street style" tacos I tasted, the best one was the carnitas. The "asada" tacos don't taste like asada, asada it's supposed to be grilled meat, this just tasted like diced beef on a pan with no seasoning. The pastor had a funky taste to the meat, the seasoning was great, but it wasn't enough to mask it. Barbacoa was decent flavor, but really tough, I don't want to play tug-of-war with my tacos when I eat.As for them charging for chips and salsa... I understand, inflation and whatever but in the future why would I go there if I can hit any other restaurant and get the chips for free? 4 dollars is not that much but is not worth it, if you order cheese dip too you are already 11 dollars in for a mediocre appetizer.I would be interested to try their Tinga or Cochinita Pibil, but honestly I don't think I'm going back. Also the menu is very vague, if you are not familiar with the dishes you are going to find yourself googling everything or asking your Mexican friend to explain it.Our server was friendly but never refilled our drinks once.Over all, just go somewhere else.

Really good service. It was fast service for how busy they were. The food was delicious. It is definitely more authentic Mexican food than the normal Mexican restaurans. The manager would make his rounds occasionally to check on everything. It seemed they really wanted to please and make sure you are satisfied. It is a little more pricey than the normal Mexican restaurants but I think you could expect that. I believe they make their own tortillas and they are really good at least the flour ones are . Chips are not free but if you order them it comes with a salsa and a cup of bean dip.

The place was very cute and you can tell a lot of money was put into this place. I’m giving it 3 stars because my boyfriend enjoyed his food. Neither of us are familiar with, I guess authentic Mexican food, and what the dishes are. We had to google pretty much everything on the menu because the descriptions are vague on some dishes, and there are no images, unfortunately. I ordered the kiwi Rita , it was very mediocre for $9 very strong on the liquor taste as and it seemed like the kiwi chunks were a garnish not a flavor. I thought I had ordered a California burrito, so I could chose the meat as ground beef, but I guess the server said something back and I just agreed without understanding. That may be an issue on my part. Then I looked at the menu after I left and realized the burrito I ordered isn’t even on the menu. It was just chunks of steak in a tortilla with cheese on top. I don’t like steak so I know I didn’t order that. I’m not one to be confrontational so I ate a bit of it and my bf ate some and liked it. The biggest issue I had is my food was served on a dirty platter. My boyfriend had his food served on parchment paper. However, mine was not and that was very off putting. My boyfriends food also had huge pieces of fascia in it! Like large pieces of fascia in his food very very off putting. The queso was good and had a nice spice to it. Will give it another shot before I declare I’m not a fan. There is definitely plenty of room for improvement which is great!

Went today for Mother's Day. I've never had faster service of food ever. While the birria tacos were not the version I was accustomed to, they were still fantastic! It was explained to us by the manager (or owner) that the different states in Mexico make things differently. So keep this in mind. I could swim around in a vat of that consume that came with it; it was delightful! Everything was fresh and flavorful. The portions were more than enough! I can't wait to try everything on the menu. We will be back!
