I am not too huge of a fan of this place, but my husband has always loved and talked up this place. Today we ordered take out as it was the fastest and closest place we could get an arepa. I ordered over the phone and said I’d pay in store and was given a turn around time of 10 mins. I had my husband go pick up and he left almost 20 mins after we made the order and when he got there he still had to wait. People were walking in, ordering, and they were getting their food before my husband even tho my husband had gone in and stated he was picking up. Once he did get his food, the cashier had selected the 15% tip option and my husband didn’t realize until after he hit submit and he noticed her doing this to multiple customers, some caught it and would change it, but it’s unacceptable as it is a tip and if they’re providing bad customer attention, a customer shouldn’t be tricked into giving a tip. The only reason they’re getting two stars and not one is because the food is okay. It’s next to a Gas station so I don’t expect the food to be perfect, but my husband who has always loved this place, has completely been let down by the service and the manipulation they did.
Have been going to this place for 5 years. And have had 2 bad experiences and tonight was one of them. I called an hour ahead to change a ground beef empanada for a cheese empanada because the beef had a real bad taste like if it was bad or left out for days and then cooked. The weirdest taste. Then get there and the cashier tells me I have to wait 8 minutes because she gave my empanada away because I was not there in 10 minutes after I called. Mind you she have no idea how far I live. So, then I asked for my money back because I didn’t have the time to wait and she said they don’t give the money back because of taste. So, the food can taste absolute garbage and that’s not on them I’m guessing. Or you can live far as hell and they will give your food away because you were not there in 10 minutes to pick it up. Also, after waiting 20 minutes they still didn’t have the empanada ready after the second time I went inside to pick it up. So, I had to leave without my food and without my money back. Obviously these people don’t understand that not everyone has the luxury of waiting forever for a freaking empanada. However, they have no problem keeping your money. Totally garbage service.
This place was filling, delicious and not expensive so what more can you really ask for. It is attached to a gas station store but a lot of local’s come there to eat. The Arepa’s are fantastic especially the pork one. Although it is a bit messy to eat it is delicious and they load it up with meat. They were also very nice about recommendations and the food comes very quick. It was $10.99 per arepa with a meat of your choice.
Do you like eating hair? (Quieres cachapa con pelo?) Then this is the place for you. They didn’t return the money or any apology. The worst part was the lady telling me that „maybe the plate from my house had the hairs“. Never going back again!

Definitely a great stop! The staff were super nice and the food was great. Very unassuming given the location, but I would recommend it to anyone.

The food was really good, had the chicken arepa and coffee and tamarindo juice. I would definitely go back and eat again. Except next time I will be using cash. The lady cashier forgot one of our drinks and she came over to our table let us know she forgot one of our drinks. She offered to take our card and go pay for it at the register. We didnt pay much attention to that until about 20 minutes later another family sat next to us and told her that she forgot her drink. She once again offered to take their card to the register. That was very fishy, I think she might be stealing peoples cards number or charging them more. We didnt even tell her that she forgot our drink and she already knew. Very shady.
