Great food, good price, Excellent StaffThis is one of the many Sonny’s restaurants in Florida. This chain started in Gainesville in 1968 and has grown to over 100 locations across the United States. The restaurant chain is known for its barbecue and service. I have been lucky enough to visit many of their locations and can say that they are consistent on several items across every place I have visited. Every store has had clean tables, good bbq, friendly staff, and reasonable prices. This location had all of those also. It is located on the south side of Malabar Road just to the West of I-95. Traffic along this stretch of road can be very busy so be careful getting to and from this one. There is plenty of parking to the south and west of the location. Upon entering you are greeted by a hostess who seats you in a booth (almost all tables are booths) and took our drink order. We ordered sliced pork sandwiches with french fries and tea. The food came out quickly and was delicious. Add in their signature barbeque sauce of your choosing and you have a recipe for delicious food. The price for two full meals was $22 and well worth it.

Sonny's is the quintessential southern BBQ stop. You can taste the slow roasted goodness I'm their meats. Generous servings are another Southern staple and Sonny's provides you more than enough to satisfy your hungry itch. Now let's add on the rewards program, which for me just provided a free lunch, a large pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw on top, a side of beans (my choice) and a large iced tea. Didn't have to buy a thing, just show the reward and enjoy. The only thing that has changed at Sonny's over the years has been them dropping the salad bar and baked potato from the sides selection. I got the salad bar once, the first time I stopped at Sonny's over a decade ago. I realized I didn't have room for all the entree provided and a salad, so I never got it again. As for the baked potato, I wish that was still offered, but I've exchanged it for sweet potato fries when I get dinner. The one thing for everyone I know in selecting your BBQ stop is their sauceI find Sonny's a great match to my tastes, from their signature sauce, to sweet and spicy, and the Carolina mustard sauce. I'm certain you will find one you like
I would rather give zero stars if I could. Today a family member was served undercooked chicken in a to go order. When she called, she was told that there were no refunds and they would only replace it if she drove all the way back right then. I then called for myself and was hung up on by Stevie. I called back and spoke with Isaac and explained the situation and how dangerous it is to serve undercooked chicken. Well Isaac thought the situation was funny and laughed in my face. I didn't see anything funny about possibly causing serious illness with serving undercooked chicken. With managers like these, no wonder there are so many 1 star reviews. There was no accountability but he made sure to make fun of the way I talked. Ridiculous! This location needs to be closed.
Did not come with enough meat for price paid for meal. I know we all need to make money but the portion they gave me and my wife was ridiculous. Service was pretty good just you do not get what you pay for

Love love love Sonny’s but was so beyond disappointed in curbside service tonight. My order said it was ready at 9:18 pm it is now 10:05pm and I got so tired of waiting in the car I stepped inside to wait and they brought out my order thats was room temp. Sent a bunch of stuff back to remake fresh and hot. The place was dead tonight and looked appropriately staffed so I’m having a hard time trying to understand why myself and a few other curbside customers got such poor food quality and service.Update: now 10:30 and I just got my order.
I go to the Sonny’s on Malabar road as a regular customer. I always get the Cuban sandwich replaced with the turkey instead of the pork. I went there tonight and was told that they do not do that when they do it for me every other time I am there. This was an act of complete laziness and arrogance. I will never go to this corporate restaurant again due to their arrogance and laziness. They were not that busy and there is no excuse why they can’t meet. A customers satisfaction.
Love the food and the salad bar. I'm not sure if the salad bar has been reopened yet, it had been closed for Covid. Anyone know if it's back open yet?
