First time I ever caught salmonella…My husband and I went there for my birthday dinner 3 nights ago. I’m 6 months pregnant and I ordered some seafood.Shrimp, scallops, and lobster. Everything tasted good to us so far. My husband ordered some sushi but ordered one of the cooked crab sushi dishes for me to try. We made sure everything had to be cooked because I am pregnant. The next day I was in so much pain and having diarrhea. Didn’t think anything of it. The day after that I was in the ER and was told I had salmonella. I had barely eaten anything since eating here that night because of loss of appetite so I know for a fact it was the food from here that I caught it from… I can say I will never be returning here which is such a disappointment because we really enjoy a good hibachi restaurant…

This has been my favorite restaurant since it opened and I have been ordering take out at least once a week for a while now because I love the food and the hours allow me to pick up food on my way home from work. The past 2 weeks I have ordered in advance but when I arrive my food was not ready and no one sent the order to the kitchen until I arrived to pick up the food 10 minutes after my scheduled pick up. I figured it was a fluke so I ordered again tonight for a 1030 pick up and arrived at 1045. I was told there was nothing for me to pick up and even though I received an email confirmation that it would be ready at 1030 I was basically told I was SOL by the bartender that I've been tippping 20% for putting together a takeout order because they already closed the kitchen even though it was 1045. The lady behind the bar could careless and told me they forgot to submit the ticket to the kitchen. Normally I wouldn't bother with a review but when I am spending $40/plate for pick up on a regular basis I feel the way I was treated is not acceptable. By the time I left most places have closed and it was obvious they could careless that I left without dinner after working all day. I am a decorator and usually refer Takeya to all my customers but after tonight I won't be referring anyone and plan to take my money elsewhere. Customer service should be 1st especially for regular customers that are willing to spend money there on a regular basis.

I came in with a party i got the steak and chicken. Chicken was WAY over cooked and pretty tasteless. The rest of the food was ok for the most part. We asked for a box to go and there was a roach on the box!! Also, the guys told me in the urinals as well. So ya I won't be eating here EVER again.. I alone paid over $100. To have roaches on my take out they took no money off the bill just a sorry. ??‍♀️

The service was good not the best! Sushi was amazing , my husband and I stopped in for our random date night hoping to get a spot at the hibachi grill but the wait was just crazy long! Love the atmosphere, the ambiance and the decor! Nice spot for a date night, girls night or birthday.

After leaving Tokyo due to terrible service, we arrived at Takeya, and they immediately assisted us and accommodated our group of 8. They were twice as busy as the previous place (Tokyo) yet fully prepared to handle the dinner rush. The service and food were excellent! I would recommend this restaurant.

The sushi here was very disappointing and did not taste fresh. To add insult to injury, after ordering and not eating the majority of the sushi, which was enough for two people, the waitress came over and we let her know that we didn't enjoy the food and thought it really wasn't very fresh. After she was told this information, she left the check on the table and couldn't care less that we weren't satisfied or even remotely happy with the food. I thought it was usually a standard practice to inquire why a couple wouldn't eat 90% of the food on the table and wouldn't want to take any of it home. Not even an "I'm sorry" or "let me get the manager." We will not be back, and I suggest you save your money and try Sushi99, Wild Ginger, or some of the other far more enjoyable venues with a constant focus on customer service.

I have been to Takeya numerous times and will probably be back but there are a few things to mention. The staff has been nice every single time I’ve been here and never had any issue with the service. The prices here have always been a bit higher than other Hibachi places but recently (and understandably due to inflation) the prices are a bit ridiculous in my opinion for what you get. This Hibachi restaurant’s vegetables provided are only zucchini, mushrooms, and onions. I just like to mention because it’s a little underwhelming compared to other similar restaurants that also give broccoli, carrots, etc. They seem to be cheap in that regard at Takeya. I’m typically also underwhelmed at the portions but this most recent visit they seemed to pile on the rice, maybe to make it seem like you’re getting a better value for your money with these inflated prices. I ordered the dumpling appetizer which is pictured below for $8.95. I was extremely disappointed in the small size and quantity of dumplings (4) for the price. I would definitely not order this again and if you are expecting an appetizer for two to share, this is definitely not it.As for the Hibachi experience, it was non existent. Our chef did not do anything besides the onion volcano. No knife clacking, not much guest interaction, no knife twirling, egg throwing in the hat, flames on the table, drawing anything with a cracked egg, “egg roll” “butter fly” nothing at all so if you are seeking that, don’t come here for it. I’ve been here about 10 times in total and have never really had any of the chefs provide much of a show. Now with these negatives I’ve mentioned I will say that the food is always tasty and is the reason that I do return when seeking hibachi for dinner and not having many other options close to home.Dinner for two, an appetizer, and one soda cost us $78.

Went there yesterday! Had a great time! At least for the first 5 minutes... until the FIRST cockroach showed up... no biggie, sure its mad nasty but hey its a food setting its understandable, as our adventure continued, we set on to forget about our little bug friend, until I saw movement next to my plate, what could it be? Another cockroach? Yes, yes it was, you guessed it right folks! We came in a group of five and in a matter of seconds we had 7 seven dinner guests on our table! The more the merrier! We got changed grills because of course one of the cockroaches ended up on the grill! :) we stayed since we had already ordered, and talked to the manager and got offered 20% percent, which I did not consider to be enough, 10% off per cockroach? Great deal!!!! When I talked to the manager again to express my discontent, I was met with "YOU WANT MORE?" to which I said "YES" she said there was nothing else they couls offer me... except for another salad... after we finished our meals. So all in all, as my good friend Borat would say, GREAT SUCCESS!!!

Just in case you're wondering-Takaya in Port Orange is fantastic. Sushi rolls are MASSIVE! Displays are impressive (dry ice and Dragon trays!), service is excellent and the Lobster Roll is Back! Enjoy all! ?

Absolutely worst experience in customer service I have ever received. Brought a birthday party to Tekaya and it was literally the one thing that ruined the birthday girls fun filled day. The owner needs lessons in management and the staff needs to be retrained. I don’t even leave reviews usually but the service irked me so bad that I thought I should say something. Giving 1 star because I can’t give zero!
