Fun experience in a tiki-themed immersive environment, tucked away in the Polynesian Resort. Unique cocktails served by quirky and entertaining bartenders. A small appetizer menu is also available. Would definitely recommend and will return in the future.
If you actually want to get into this funTiki bar, you need to get there early and get on the wait list. During our last vacation to Disney World my family and I decided to leave the park late in the afternoon and head over to Greg’s Grotto and enjoy an adult beverage. Unfortunately, it is a very popular spot and difficult to get into if you are not on the wait list. However, the very friendly man at the door told us we could enjoy the same adult beverages on the back patio. Even though we did not get to enjoy the inside of Greg’s Grotto, the drinks were delicious. We also enjoyed relaxing on the patio. Lesson learned, get on the wait list or just enjoy a drink on the back patio.
"Cultural Appropriation?" Whatever! Great drinks, fun environment, goofy bartenders, and good company! Whereas I hope that Disney comes back to being family friendly and stops pushing a sexualized agenda on our kids, Trader Sams is still a great place and the PC garbage has not completely taken it over yet! I am a tiki nut, I have been to over 75 tiki bars from coast to coast, but Trader Sams is still a top 10 stand-out.
This place was unbelievable when my friend told me it was a 4 hour wait I thought he was out of his mind. It was worth it probably one of the best bars on Disney property, the drinks are an experience and all around a fun atmosphere. I would recommend putting your name in going to your dinner reservation somewhere else then coming back. This is something I would not miss.
Best experience on property. So much fun. So many surprises. Won't say more, you need to see for yourself. The drinks are sublime. Your 'Skipper' will take you on a campy tiki journey that you will not forget.
Great experience and super fun atmosphere! If you can get in I recommend it. Ordering different drinks will make different things around the bar happen or get different responses from staff. Delicious drinks and the flatbread was a favorite.
Sneaky tiki gem. Get here early and often - and tip well! The theming is perfect - it's a world-class tiki wonderland, between the lavishly detailed decor, and the attentive staff who can't wait to pull you into the fun.Almost unbelievably, none of the environment overshadows the star of the show - the expertly crafted drinks, which are thrilling versions of an array of classic recipes.(There are definitely no hidden menu items on the drinks list, sadly.)
To have a table, you must be here by 7 pm for terrace seating. If you've spent the day at the Magic Kingdom, then you're ready for an adult beverage. We had 3 mai tais and 4 zombies between 3 adults. There was a virgin pina colada. Food was decent consisting of Kahlua Pork Tacos, Thai chicken flatbread and 3 orders of pan fried dumplings. Here's the kicker, a tab of $183 before 18% gratuity (as we were 6) and tax or just shy of $230. Service was by Skip later called Adam who was diligent and affable.
You can't make reservation at Trader Sam's so you have to get on a waitlist. We signed up for 2 people and we were told the wait was an hour to an hour and a half. After almost 2 hours, we stopped by to see where we were on the waitlist and the cast member snapped at us we had to get out until we got a text and refused to give us any update. So, we did. After another 10 minute wait, we got a text. We were then told we missed last call for food which sucked since we were pretty hungry and I wish the cast member had told us food shuts off around 9:30 so we could have gotten snacks elsewhere. Even after waiting over 2 hours there was no seating. So, we got to stand awkwardly in the middle of the bar I guess to stare down the people in seats to pressure them to leave. After standing there awkwardly for 15 minutes and no food or drink on the way, we decided to leave. By then, most food options were also shut down so our options were limited. Basically, it was a completely wasted evening waiting over 2 hours to stand in a bar for 15 minutes and get nothing. I wish the cast member had explained that experience to us when we got on the wait list so at least we could have made a better decision to go someplace else where we could sit and actually order something.
Go here. Get on the waitlist as close to 2pm as possible and be prepared to wait (we got there at 3pm one day and 5pm another and were told 2.5h each time - but so worth it). Room comes to life and cast members are absolutely brilliant. Annie especially hilarious on our first visit. A week on and still laughing at the memories made - now recommending this to anyone we know going to Disney!
