I guess this isolated area off Sand Lake is becoming the Midwest away from the Midwest. I tried Portillo’s for the first time and I enjoyed the hot dog. Lots of toppings available, some for free. It had a nice snap to it and good balance of salt. The bun was steamed and soft. The most unique item you can order at Portillo’s is a Cake Shake- a milkshake with an entire slice of your choice of cake blended in. The crumbs of the cake are evenly distributed through the shake which provides a new texture. It resemble the melted bits left behind on the plate after having cake and ice cream at a birthday party. Unfortunately the shake is far too thick to drink through the narrow provided straw so I had to inconvenienoiently eat the entire thing with a spoon. I wish a wider smoothie straw was available. Chocolate cake in chocolate ice cream was also a bit too rich; I’d recommend one of the lighter combinations.
Awesome food! Great atmosphere! Workers are very friendly!
Service is terrible. Was great when it opened now it’s like any other place. Food isn’t bad just poor customer service.
Second time at a Portillos, first time at this location, and again, I am not disappointed! Everything was prepared correctly, the order for online pickup was on time to the minute, and everything you would need was in the bag (utensils, straw, napkins, etc). The food was cooked perfectly and was delicious. This time we branched out and tried a couple new items, as well as some old. Highlights were the Italian beef sandwich with Cheddar added. I also tried the vanilla malt shake and the eclair cake. All were delicious, but I think I'd say that I prefer the chocolate malt and the Strawberry Shortcake to yesterday's counterparts, although I can honestly say that I could easily see myself reordering anything I've tried before on the menu. I am not sure I can say I have a preference on entrées, I think it would depend on my mood, but both the Italian beef and Chicago dog are great options. I am very impressed with this chain, would eat here again, and would recommend anything on the menu I've eaten so far! Can't say enough good things about my first two times eating Portillos! Also, a couple notable things, this location sports a very busy drive thru, has indoor, and outdoor seating, with dine in, Togo, and delivery options.
This place was absolutely a treat in Orlando! We had a great experience and will definitely return. Fast and friendly service. Food was hot, delicious, and better than expected. We ordered the Chicago style hot dogs, Italian beef subs, crinkle cut fries, onion rings, and fountain drinks. The dining area could have been cleaner, but the crumbs were easily wiped off with extra napkins. Highly recommended!? We devoured all of our food... hence, only the restaurant pictures are posted before ordering!
I finally decided to make a stop at Portillo's and let me tell you.....I'm glad I did! I had two Chicago dogs with fries and they were delicious! Fresh toppings, amazing bun and the star of the show was the dog link itself. Great flavor with an awesome snap when you bite into it. My Son had the Italian Beef and stated that it was amazing as well. The place is clean, has great décor and the staff was great. I'll definitely go back in a few days!P.S. - try the chocolate and the lime cakes. You'll thank me later.
Been waiting to eat at Portillo’s for a long time, I wasn’t disappointed.Savory Hotdog, relish, onions and a pickle made it absolutely delicious, the bun was sweet and soft, I would love to have that hotdog packed more organized because it was a bit of a mess, still delicious.Italian beef was absolutely delicious, soggy and tasty bun packed with flavor, peppers on top, loved it.I also drank their signature Chocolate Cake Shake, which was great but I expected bits and pieces of chocolate and the shake to be more creamy, still was good.Highly recommend to come here, this spot also look spectacular.
great customer service and of course the food was soo goid, as we remembered being from Chicago
First time visiting Portillo's and trying a Chicago style hot dog. Pretty impressed with both! I really liked the 50/60's retro style theming inside the restaurant. Food was really tasty (ordered hot dogs, burgers and chocolate cake). Portions were very generous and the service was fast.
3/15/2022|| was in the area for a business trip and my co-worker recommended this place, as she had gone to a similar location in Chicago.I dig the theme. Old school diner with lots of memorabilia from past. I went during lunch time and ordered a Maxwell Street Polish hotdog combo. When I had received my order I thought that I was still going to be hungry as the hotdog looked small, but I was wrong as it had filled me up quite so.Co-worker then tells me that Portillos is famous for their chocolate cake and that I should try one. I did and it was super sweet. If you are ever in the area and want to be amazed at not just the food but the environment this is the place to be!
