I'm the last person you should rely on to comment on the authenticity of Hawaiian food. However, I will tell you this was one of the tastiest meals I've had in this area of Orlando! My wife has a hard time enjoying tofu from most places even though it's a vegetarian/vegan staple. She was thrilled that for once we have found somewhere that makes it so tasty! The tao-fu rice tacos were excellent. HIGHLY recommend for a vegan/vegetarian option. I had the Haole Poke. I am not someone who enjoys spicy sauces so I was glad they were willing to substitute in one of their sweet soy sauces. The service was incredibly fast even though it seemed like a busy weekend lunch rush. It's clear they use high quality ingredients by how fresh and tasty the fish was. Expect to pay somewhere between $25-30 for two people without desert. Which honestly for what places seem to charge these days is a deal for food this great!
So according to the wonderful readers and voters of Orlando Weekly, this place had the best poke in town during the year of 2021. That's saying something. So I had to come and check it out. I grabbed a couple of friends and we hit the place up one Friday night. It's right off the main drag of Colonial, so just find a close-by parallel parking spot and boom, it's right there. The inside is a very chill, quick service vibe. You have your ordering counter with all their ingredient options displayed, and then you have ample seating in different forms. Lots of fun murals on the wall with a Hawaiian surfer feel to it. I posted a few pics. But I liked it. Very cozy. You can custom order you own poke bowl, with whatever you like in it, of course, but when I'm going to a new place, I like to go with one of the pre-fixed options, to see what they are trying to tell me. At the employee recommendation, I got the Haole Style (shoyu ahi and salmon with shaka toppings, fried onion, mango, crispy noodles, & shredded nori). This was very good! Know up front that you are getting quality here, not quantity. But the fish tasted very fresh, and they actually tasted different from each other. That's a good sign. The crispy texture items and the sweeeet mango really made this super good. Maybe haole, but that's ok.I also ordered the Spicy Tuna Ono Nachos (topped with spicy tuna, spicy aioli, avocado crema, scallions, sesame and jalapenos). Such a fun little app. Larger, fried wonton-type things, each individually dressed and presented like nachos. I haven't seen this before, so I was tickled, and they had a great crunch and a great kick. I was a fan.And then I ordered a Hei Hei Chicken Makai Crispy Rice Taco (grilled chicken, mixed greens, teriyaki, spicy aioli, sesame and scallions). Again, never seen anything like this before. A crispy fried puffed rice kind of thing folded into a taco shell, and it held within the great teriyaki chicken with a spicy sauce and some nice greens. So much fun.Again, a warning, this place is selling quality, not quantity, so I kept ordering things, like I do. I finished off with a side of SPAM Musubi. This thing has been one of my favorite foods for decades now. If you've never had one, stop reading this and go get one right now, please. Very good.Of course, at their register they have impulse buy desserts, and I had to pick up a Butter Mochi. Don't even know what I ate. It was like a combination of sweet cornbread and mochi. It was bizarre and I savored it and ate it all very quickly and wanted to order another one. Try this, too. Try all of this.I ordered a couple of Asian kind of drinks, like a green tea and a mango drink in a can, and man, this was a satisfying meal. I can see why this place won. I think it will do well again with the 2022 voting...
This is an excellent spot for a quick bite — service is super quick and the food is delicious! The tacos are unique and flavorful, and the bowls are tasty as well. Definitely will come back again!
Pretty solid place to grab some quick Hawaii food. The tuna poke was amazing and the toppings that came with it paired really well. Only suggestion would be bigger bowls since it's a little hard to eat with everything on top of one another.
The food is incredible and I love the unique drink options. I love that the taco shells are made of rice and everything was delicious. It’s comfortable and a cute place to eat at. The cashier was patient and kind! They have cute Hawaiian music playing in the background. ? ? I love the colors and the atmosphere.
Fresh, quality ingredients at a counter-order restaurant. Similar to many, you can order pre-designed poké bowls or make a custom one. I chose fish and tofu while my wife ordered chicken and ahi-tuna. The custom bowls are pictured. My tempura battered fish and tofu were cooked to order (not pre-cooked).
What! OMG, flavour packed with every spoon/chop stick bite. Great flavor nice selection of toppings. Can’t really complain other than the bowls are not as big as they seem and things kept falling out. Lots of plastic everything is thrown out. So yeah but other than that. I would totally recommend for a small bite.
Service was quick. You can build your own poke bowl, but their favorites all look good. The rice was cooked well (more important than you think). Everything was fresh and tasty.
Wow I feel like I walked into Hawaii. The vibe the workers the music, I love it.I wish I would have had a full meal but I got the ono nachos “spicy tuna” and my Bf had hula chicken plateWow both were delicious ?
I eat here 2-3x a week. The only thing I crave all week is the Maui Wowie Bowl and a Lilikoi Passion drink. The best, freshest, tuna in town. I appreciate this place a lot. Took my friend born and raised in Maui here and she gives it a certified check.
