olives fresh and healthy eating restaurant is an absolutely wonderful establishment. The staff and owners are exceptionally pleasant and make you feel right at home. Many places downtown can come off less than hospitable but my experience here today will bring me back for sure. I was having an absolutes awful day, but when I walked into Olives I was treated with such kindness and altruism. The establishment is very clean and decorated nicely. If you work near the Chase Building or on Church street, this would be a great place to stop and have lunch, grab a bite before or after a movie, or enjoy a casual date with someone special. I rarely write reviews but I am compelled to spread the word about this great place!!!!
I got the Vegan Delight. Grape leaves were pretty good, though very soggy. Everything else was not good. Flavorless falafel, too many onions in tabooli, baba ganosh had big slimy lumps of eggplant, hummus was grainy and low on flavor, and I actually had hard time identifying the taziki (if that was, in fact, what that watery pale green stuff was supposed to be). Not what I was hoping for when I looked for a healthy meal in Orlando.
Order the classic gyro and it was everything I wanted and more! Fresh ingredients, lamb was spiced wonderfully and the tzatziki was flavorful and delicious. Most certainly a 5 out of 5.I ordered the combo which came with fries and a drink. The fries were OFF THE CHART good!!!!
They have vegan options and are delicious! Very flavorful!!! The staff are so kind. The restaurant is clean and so are the bathrooms.
This place has some amazing food! Everything is very fresh and the portions are very generous. We had gyro meat and salad, plus a gyro sandwich, it is some of the best gyro meat I've found in Orlando so far. The staff is super friendly and pleasant. I really enjoyed eating here and will definitely be back.
Olives is a great little Mediterranean joint. The staff is all smiles, the food is great, and the ambiance is pretty chill. Their prices are a little on the high side, but you’re downtown anyway, and the food is fast and filling. Don’t sleep on this place!
I went for the first time tonight, and it will be my last. I am a vegan so ordered the vegan plate. It was expensive but the portions were big. I was with a friend who ordered a meat-based meal. I didn’t even finish my food and waited for her to finish. Immediately after we finished and walked out of the restaurant, I began to feel ill. I was flushed and sweating. I felt nauseous. I sat down for about 10 minutes until I felt the need to vomit. I ran to a trash can and vomited up all the baba ganoush and hummus. I had to go home immediately and lie down. It ruined my whole night, and my friend’s night. And now I have a lot of stomach discomfort, with continued nausea. I’ve never had this sort of adverse reaction before, and I have no allergies. I believe the meal gave me Staphylococcus aureus food poisoning, which can be caused by food left out or left at the wrong temperature. I’ve been extremely healthy and have been isolated other than going out tonight on this rare occasion, so I know it’s not an illness I caught; it’s definitely what I ate. This was only my third time going into a restaurant since the pandemic began in March 2020. This was just a very bad experience for me.
I would have enjoyed my meal (a vegan plate), had it not given me food poisoning. Please, Olives, read up on staph food poisoning and make sure your workers always follow proper food-safety precautions, for the safety and welfare of others who end up dining at your establishment. I became quickly nauseous and vomited within 30 minutes of eating, then suffered with stomach pains and digestive discomfort for 6-7 hours later. I can’t even believe I paid them $20 for this experience. And not something I would normally expect from a vegan meal. Also, too much plastic.
Amazing and friendly service! I'm vegan, so I had the vegan dish with a variety of items in it. Staff genuinely cared whether the food was good or not and went out of there way to personalize my experience by being out a variety of vegan friendly sauces to go with each item. I ate some, then packed the rest up to go and finished everything for dinner. Yummy. Thank you Olives!
They do not wear masks or gloves while preparing food. Today I watched a man answer his cellphone then without washing his hands-he continued touching my food-without gloves. Employees handling food should wear masks and gloves during this pandemic. If I had not already pre-paid my food, I would have declined the order. Additionally, I, too, am vaccinated and still got COVID. Sadly, the vaccine does not prevent contracting COVID but rather prevents serious symptoms requiring hospitalization. Lastly, I ordered traditional Baklava and received Baklava Cheesecake. My sandwich had pickles I did not request and my $30 lunch was not ready by the pick up time. I only get a thirty minute lunch and was inconvenienced by having to wait while they prepared my meal. Today was the first and last time I will eat at Olive.
