I had read reviews of how delicious the food was so was excited to try this restaurant! The bakery case looked great. We were confused how it worked and noone was helpful so we decided to just order food to go. Using the menu on the wall I asked for the #3 sandwich and the cashier rudely said THAT DONT MAKE ANY SENSE. I then waited for the rotating menu to come back to the sandwich menu while my sons ordered and asked for the sweetbread ham sandwich. She then said there isn't anything called that and told me to use one of the menus on the counter in front of me. However, there weren't any and she then threw one at me. I was so shocked, I pointed to the sandwich I asked for called #3 Sweetbread ham sandwich and she understood. Then we tried to order from the bakery case and that employee kept speaking to us in I believe Spanish but we don't speak more than a marginal amount. When I apologized, she only pulled her mask down and repeatedly yelled the words louder at me as if I was deaf until she was screaming. My teen son and his friend were like lets just go, they don't want us here. They ended up putting things we didn't even want in our box and at this point I was trying not to cry because it was humiliating in front of a crowd of people behind us. They were quite kind and helpful to the people who seemed to speak the same language. It took a long time to get the food and they didn't pack it to go as asked so we ate there. The food was okay, nothing great, the teens didn't like the burgers they got, my sandwich was good. The baked items look much better than they taste. I wouldn't go back and wouldn't wish that kind of treatment on anyone.
This place is as good as it gets; wide variety of Puerto Rican comfort food, eggs, fries, lunch meals, breakfast meals, dinner — and a bakery. Highly recommend for both the price and the taste. ???
This is probably the best Spanish food I’ve had so far! The staff was kind and helpful too and I am most grateful. 10/10 will be back here again!
My husband and I visited this location this morning for breakfast the service from the woman in the front was very dry and not friendly or warm welcoming, we ordered a breakfast platter and a sandwich and 2 coffees 2 waters and 3-4 items from the bakery I also wanted some cream of corn but they were all out at 9am then I asked about alcapurrias and they had the skinnies looking things ever to me as a Home chef that is embarrassing to serve and not worth the full price that is an insult to me as a Home cook or chef, The sandwich and breakfast was good but not the service or the appearance of those alcapurrias please do better I have visited your establishment in the past as I was coming to visit and they never looked like that do better. Very disappointed today!!!
The only reason I'm not having it 4 stars, is because I didn't get to try everything else! I had no idea what I was looking for and everyone was so nice and helpful with explaining what was what and giving recommendations! The pastries were very sweet for me, and nice and flaky, and the stew I got was very good. I want to try more of the different meats and come back and try the cakes as well! It was such a good time and I felt so full driving back. ?
Good coffee and pastries. A large spread of hot food and sandwiches. Good latin food.
Have breakfast with my sisters and niece was good, when we arrive was a line but run quickly. They had all kind of puerto Rico pastry very good.
The past two years I've come to Melao to pickup food for Thanksgiving (I'm no cook). Food is great! And they are really fast to get you served.
Good food, amazing sweet. Definitely a must try if you like cultural food. If you’re in the Orlando area, it’s a place you’ll want to visit.
The food was so delicious. But, the staff were not friendly. They were treating us arrogant and their face were with attitude. They need to know that many visitors come to Florida to get away from their home and enjoy it, so they should expect many people not to know how they run the place. Although, the food was so good that made me feel like I was in PR. Just treat others like you want to be treated. ?
