Once again, we returned to Matthew's for a special occasion; but this place makes any occasion feel special! It is a hidden gem right in Orlando's backyard, and I get the feeling the locals like it that way! Located on Plant Street in Winter Garden, Matthew's is incredibly warm, welcoming and charming. Family owned, this place is something super-special. My husband and I both ordered the 8 oz Filet Mignon, that was cooked to perfection. We each had baked potatoes (accompanied by the homemade sour cream), I had a salad with the blue cheese dressing to start, and he had the tomato soup. You can taste the difference here from what you would get at a chain. We live off of restaurant row in Dr. Phillips, but it is worth the drive to have a truly exceptional meal with a small and attentive staff looking after you in a cozy dining room. We both enjoyed the German draft beer with our dinner, and for dessert I had the vanilla ice cream, which came in a delightful raspberry sauce while my husband had the chocolate cake It was light and airy and the frosting was almost mousse like in texture. If you're looking for your next date night, look no further than Matthew's. It is exquisite!
What an amazing night. Our first visit to Matthew's Steakhouse will not be our last. As other reviews say, this is a family run restaurant and the service is exceptional. We have eaten at steakhouses worldwide and the steaks here were the best we have ever had. We had the Ribeye and the Filet. Both were "melt in your mouth" delicious. The homemade sour cream, butter and bleu cheese dressing were so wonderful that I wish they would sell them "to go". :) Don't miss the homemade german chocolate cake for dessert. This is not the icky sweet, coconut version. This is a lightly sweet burst of chocolate and I could have eaten a whole cake. What an amazing time we had. We will be back!
Incredible food, spacious interior. The only difficulty is getting a reservation. You have to keep calling until you get someone on the phone to make one.
Amazing experience! For our Valentine’s treat, my family and I went to Matthews for an early dinner. We had reservations and were greeted by Matthew himself. The atmosphere is wonderfully intimate and welcoming. But the star of the show is, of course, the food. I have been all over the world. I have eaten Matsusaka steak in Tokyo, and Kobe in Osaka. Having lived in Manhattan, I have eaten at Sparks and Smith Wollensky’s more times than I can count. So believe me when I tell you that Matthews stands shoulder to shoulder with all of them. I had the New York Strip, which was incredibly flavorful and cooked to perfection and my son had the Filet Mignon, which was as tender as you could hope for. My wife had the jumbo shrimp skewer with crispy rice that she couldn’t stop raving about. Unlike a particularly infamous review on this site, we had possibly the best dining experience in recent memory. We were first time customers, but are already planning our return.
The shrimp was delicious and would recommend. The rice was almost like hibachi rice. I switch the salad for a baked potato I’m glad I did that. We had the cheesecake and chocolate cake. I would next time pass on the cheesecake but would order the chocolate cake again.
Always a great experience visiting a Longhorn Steakhouse and this was no exceptional. I had the 7 pepper steak salad for lunch which was amazing. I barely used the bleu cheese dressing ,as it wasn't needed with the salad tasting so good by itself, but it tasted great too. My wife had a sirloin and fries and enjoyed her meal too. The place great location, walking distance to ICON park and parking was not difficult to find. Solid service and highly recommended.
We just had a dinner party for our son and bride's rehearsal dinner. Mathew and staff had previously been highly recommended fo this type event. The experience and food quality far exceeded everyone's expectations. The servers were completely prepared for the event; and that showed clearly in their friendly and efficient service. The 40 attendees quickly felt comfortable; and happy as everyone enjoyed the highest quality cuisine and top shelf elegance. We were overwhelmed with this dinner party; and thankful to this experience. All attending will recommend Mathew's for such events. A big WOW!
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Matthew's. The steaks and customer service are the best. We've lived in the Orlando area for over 30 years and without a doubt, Matthew's is the best dining experience in the area. Matthew's is our favorite restaurant for special occasions and a place we love to bring guests to.
Celebrated the start of our honeymoon at Matthew’s and the experience did not disappoint. We were greeted by name as we entered by Matthew who seated us right in front of the show grill as he congratulated us. We got the pleasure of watching the chef cook our steaks and potatoes to perfection while we enjoyed salads with house made dressings. The homemade herb butter and sour cream were out of this world and put the meal over the top. Beautiful dining room, professional service and superb food all for a reasonable price. Can’t wait to go back!
We are frequent patrons of Matthews. The food is amazing and this is a small family owned establishment that treats their patrons like family (the good kind of family)! They personalize their service and being a “meat and potatoes” girl, turned me into a fish lover because of not only the preparation of the food but the quality. I was upset to read some of the reviews on here that are unfair especially I recent one where I actually witnessed the “encounter” the negative reviewer left. His comments were far from the truth. I have only seen this family and their staff treat their patrons with kindness and respect UNLESS they are provoked I. A very harsh way. When a patron begins to swear, harass and threaten you, as a business owner, member of management or staff, you have the right to request that they leave. That is for the safety and consideration of not only the business owner but their patrons. It’s sad to me that someone would post a negative review about a fabulous family owned restaurant that takes great pride in what they serve and how they treat people and give them a bad review based on that patrons bad behavior and being asked to leave. I hope that people will look at the positive reviews here and continue to support this amazing business. Trust me, try the French Onion Soup, the halibut or one of the amazing home made desserts .... you won’t be disappointed. And thank your server “Bob” ;)
