We came here with reservations for a party of 9. We were sat quickly, but that’s pretty much where the positives end. The atmosphere was nothing special, though the kids did get a kick out of the Italian singers. The food was TERRIBLE, and also terribly expensive. The Chicken Carbonara was dry & weird-tasting - the worst we have ever had (full disclosure, we are from NY and know good Italian food!). The Rigatoni Bolognese was okay, but very small portion for the $30 price tag. We had 3 children order the pasta kids meals that came with a single meatball. It was literally an ice cream scoop of pasta in the middle of a bowl, and they charged $16.95 per kid’s meal. Our server, while nice, had zero personality, and overall it was just a bad experience. We will never return.
I don't even know where to start with this place. Walking in, we were told there is a 30 minute wait for a party of 4 even though half of the restaurant was empty. The only food items that were good were the complimentary house bread and the calamari. The bread was beyond soft and very flavorful while the calamari was fried very evenly and was really good. That, unfortunately is where the good ended. The lasagna was very bland with almost no flavor, and reminded us of what you would get from the freezer section at Costco. The chicken Alfredo was absolutely awful. The pasta was beyond overcooked, and the sauce was pretty much nonexistent. The chicken itself was dry and seemed like it was boiled for a long time before being served. The kid's cheesy macaroni and cheese was good... if you forgot that you ordered it WITH cheese. Part of our order was completely forgotten and we had to remind our waiter before it was made. Over the course of the evening, utensils were used and taken, yet none were given back to us throughout the entire night. There was also live music that came from table to table with song requests. This would be a good idea in theory but proved to be a nuisance more so than a nice addition. Keep a wide berth away from this place.
My family and I had an amazing time at this restaurant. The food is really good, but the best part was the musicians!! All of them were amazing! The gentleman playing the guitar and both singers were soooo amazingly awesome. Congratulations to all of them.
This beautiful authentic Italian restaurant made my 5th anniversary dinner with my husband and I So SO special. The hospitality and care shown to every detail of our experience was incredible! The manager Karl, and our server Lawrence were WONDERFUL. The food was incredible! Very authentic and clearly made with love. Even mama herself came out to say hi and give us a special treat and take a photo with us. Thanks again!
Mama Melrose's is located inside the Portofino Bay Hotel Universal Studios. It is very good for a hotel restaurant. The ambiance is like walking into your Italian grandmothers' house but so much more. The menu offers traditional but also nontraditional Italian dishes. The service was great, and the portions were perfect. I would only dine here if staying or staying at another Universal resort.
Hands down my very favorite restaurant in Orlando! I have been to many restaurants in Orlando during my visits to Disney & Universal and these is my favorite of all time! Best calamari, mussels, antipasta, and then I had chicken parmigiana for dinner. My mom had lasagna and it was so good also. Our waiter was amazing and we just loved the singers that made rounds. Every experience was excellent and we are so glad we made a reservation.
I love the whole atmosphere of Mama Della's. We have only been to Universal once before ion 2007, and ate here. It was on my list for this trip as well. I cry every time.
Perfect end to a perfect anniversary weekend! Universal from now on...bye Walter. ; (
Easter Dinner with family. Food was just mediocre with a limited menu. Calamari was way over cooked.
Absolutely fabulous. Some of the best Italian food I have had and I’m Italian. Bravo. In addition, amazing service. All of our dishes were authentic
