Yes! THIS is the 3 course meal to spring for when you’re headed to Disney. Trust me. We had a total of three of this style of meals, and the “Magical experiences” at the others did not make up for the mediocre food. The food and service at this meal were fantastic. If you’re visiting during this summer, there are two fireworks showings at Magic Kingdom and you can catch both if you time it right! Stay indoors or head out to the observation decks…either way, It’s a really beautiful way to celebrate Disney Magic and your loved ones!
There really is nothing positive to write about our family so called special evening dinner. First thing that sticks out is the $89 fixed price for a below average three course meal. A boom for Disney, as selections for each course are minimal, production line food servings. Inventory costs minimal. Let’s talk about the food, four people served three different choices. The Sushi, nine pieces, so thin, they should never be called Sushi, tasteless. The Wontons win the better of our selections. Haddock or Black Grouper seafood choices, the Haddock must have just been taken out of a freezer, solid shredded when cutting and dry as a bone. Black Grouper in a curry sauce was equally horrid. Steak ordered medium rare came out well done, sent back for a medium rare which came when the other veggies had been eaten. Vegetable served with the Haddock was an embarrassment to being called Asparagus. Forget the star attraction of five samples of prior chefs, they are so small not even bite size. Gran Marnier Soufflé was just like tres leches. Pre dinner cocktails no comment. They advertise as a going back in time opulence and grand dining plus a dress code, which is a joke, T shirts, shorts, flip flops in abundance. We have dined here in the past which was exceptional, those times you needed at least a polo shirt and trousers. Suppose it is a sign of the times. When the bill for four with tip is close to $600 we expect more.
Very disappointed with the food and the service. The prefix menu is required, options are limited. The appetizers where ok, nothing to rave about except the duck pizza. The entrees where small and horrible, my son just and ordered the fish option and it was not even edible. Overpowering with coconut and a soggy mess. The teak my son ordered was pretty good. The deserts where unacceptable, lavender donuts hard as a rock and crème brûlée was more like a boxed custard. Drinks where good specialty the old fashion the bartender whipped up. The view of the fireworks is beautiful from the deck but there are other areas to watch the show and not spend so much money for bad food.
Had a wonderful experience, food was amazing. Came last week and the vegan menus and regular menu altered slightly to keep guest from the hotel coming back. Fireworks are accompanied by music, the lights are turned down and it was a fun experience.
We have been here before but it was my sister and brother-in-law’s first time. It was amazing! The staff was superior and so was the food. The California sushi trio to start was awesome and my brother-in-law’s Crab bisque was terrific. My filet was perfect. It poured rain—but we still had an amazing view and the atmosphere of the restaurant never disappoints. We each had different desserts so we got to try a bunch. The chocolate torte with salted peanuts and cream was to die for. It was so good to be back!
We had been to California Grill before COVID and it was fantastic! Now the menu selection is limited and not great. So disappointed with the food taste, selection and experience. Way over priced for what you get. The waiter was wonderful, engaging and accommodating
There's a reason this is regularly ranked as not only a top restaurant at Disney, but also in Orlando. A true fine dining experience, with the Disney customer service you would expect. Each dish and cocktail is expertly crafted. Reservations are highly recommended but if you don't have any, you can always ask if there's any space at the bar. Try and time your visit so that you can watch the magic Kingdom fireworks in the evening from the terrace of the California grill.
Spectacular service from Walter, our waiter and guide for the evening. We didn’t feel rushed at all and he listened carefully to our questions and preferences. I can’t eat dairy and found the options available to be very enjoyable- though I was too full to finish dessert! Disney has upped their game for allergy friendly options and it makes things so much easier. The focaccia was a great start to the meal for both of us. My husband chose the crispy wontons, steak and chocolate torte - his steak was perfectly done. I had the peach and raspberry salad (be prepared for a small granola tart shell as the base), black grouper and lavender donuts (I don’t care for lavender in food but didn’t notice a strong flavour so these worked for me). Have the Gewurtztraminer with the grouper, it’s a flawless pairing. Viewing fireworks from the roof deck capped a magical evening.
A bit underwhelmed after the meal. Had been really looking forward to it. The food was mostly ok though the steak was not good and really fatty for a filet. The part I struggled with the most was the feeling of being rushed through the meal - 3 courses plus bread means you should be given some space to breathe and digest it. There was virtually no breathing spaces between courses, which took away significant enjoyment from the meal as I was feeling too full.
Our meal started with an Old Fashion in a cracked glass tumbler. My well done steak that I agreed to have "butterflied", was tasteless and very dry, it was equal to a piece of jerky. Even the waitress commented on how it looked. She did offer to replace it, but as everyone else had their entrees, I didn't want to make them wait. Being seated next to a large family table with little kids running around, also added to the lack of a wonderful experience. The set menu is very expensive and not worth it at all. We had far better dinners at other restaurants in the Disney area at much less of a cost. I wish I could get reimbursed for this dinner, or at least my dried steak and my husbands drink.
