The food was excellent. The atmosphere was cozy. The bar was separate from the couples seating. The restaurant was decorated very nicely too.
Worst $40+ I have ever spent on a meal out by myself !!! I have heard about the OP Fish House for sometime now so I decided to try it & unfortunately it was not a good experience. I was seated in a room across from the entrance & waited for my waitress to come see me for at least 10 minutes, I ordered a draft beer which I waited 15+ minutes to get. I ordered a cup of the fish chowder & an entree of fried scallops & fried oysters thinking I would first get my chowder however my waitress brought my entree along with my seafood chowder (which was a clam chowder with a few chunks of fish in it) that was very bland. My fried scallops were prepared well with a very light breading however the fried oyster tasted like they were breaded days ago (very heavily breaded) rather that freshly breaded to order so I ate 2 out of 6 and they were horrible ? at least the coleslaw was fresh & creamy. I would not recommend this restaurant at all !!!
We have never been disappointed whether we have come with a large group or just as a couple. The food and the service are consistently outstanding. Our server this week, Lauren, was friendly and fantastic! See you again soon!
Been here several times, every time we visit Jacksonville. This is our go to place whenever we come back.
Let me start by bragging about our server, Francine. The sheer number of trips she made from our table to the kitchen probably tested her patience beyond measure, yet she still kept an amazing attitude and really tried to salvage as much of our visit as possible. Now let’s talk about the sheer catastrophe the kitchen made of our meal. We started with the fried gator tail appetizer and we both ordered the Captain’s Platter meal that came with shrimp, scallops, oysters, fish and stuffed crab. They were out of crab so we were allowed to double up on one of the other choices. I doubled up on scallops and he doubled up on the shrimp. I ordered all blackened which is where things get crazy. The kitchen prepared my entire order fried. Francine returned to the kitchen and I watched my boyfriend eat while I watched. The kitchen sent Francine back out with my remade order, only this time they forgot my doubled scallops and my oysters. Francine returned with a side plate of scallops cooked correctly, and then the kitchen gave her a plate of fried (not blackened) oysters for a second time. This is considered to be a fine dining experience among many Clay and Duval residents, for me… it fell short. If not for the amazing dining staff I wouldn’t consider returning. I sincerely hope that the experience we had today isn’t indicative of the normal experience.
A great value for amazing fresh seafood! I had the Captain's Platter with fried fish, oysters, deviled crab, scallops, and shrimp. The fries and collards were on point for sides. And, the portions were huge! I took half of it home for another meal. My server was Rebecca C and she really took good care of me. She was attentive and very professional. All around, it was an awesome experience. I'll definitely be coming back!
We had a great meal here. Hotel recommended we come here for fish.We had Coconut shrimp and Chef Jasons Brussels with scallopsPlus the house salad.Generous portions, very filling after a full day flying to Jacksonville.Chef Wil did a great job tonight.
This seafood is the most BLAND seafood I had in my life. Couldn’t even finish the meal. Their cheese grits TERRIBLE. Their corn DRY as hell. Their crab is AWFUL. My boyfriend didn’t care for his meal either. Didn’t like his lobster. It was SOOOOOOO bland. They didn’t even season their mashed potatoes. This was so awful. & I’m mad I paid over 100 bucks for absolutely nothing. Do not recommend
Mt boyfriend and I stopped here while visiting Jacksonville. It was a great choice! The food was tasty and the service was good. The restaurant was quaint and separated into rooms. I ordered the Captains Platter fried with sweet potatoes and a Ceasar salad. The only thing I didn't like was that the sweet potatoes had powdered sugar garnished on them and came with a side of icing. That made the sweet potatoes too sweet. My boyfriend ordered scallops, oysters and soft shell crab with greens and mashed potatoes. The sides were seasoned well! You could tell tge greens were cooked with some kind of meat! We would definitely return. We ordered an appetizer (fried green tomatoes) and two entrees with two beers and didn't spend $80.
Service was on point (Jayden) . Perfect day for outside seating. Started off with Long Island ice tea and a Bloody Mary. Drinks were good ( no mixer taste). Calamari for appetizer. Oysters rockefeller, fish chowder and blue salad drizzled with balsamic vinegarett. EVERYTHING was perfect. No long wait for anything. Never disappointed at OP Fish House & Oyster Bar . Thank you for every visit being a pleasure!
