I’m not one to leave reviews, however I brought my family to lunch here the other day for the first time since COVID. The staff was so welcoming it was good to be back. What made the difference was our server Kelsie. She paid extra attention to the little details and that deserves to be recognized. She kept the food, smiles and fun times flowing!
I enjoyed our meal but what really made our night amazing was our awesome waitress Maria. She was so helpful and sweet. She was knowledgeable about the menu and recommended us a great dinner. So glad she recommended it. I feel that Maria really needs to be recognized at Sonny's for how good she is with the customers. So I give 5 stars because of our awesome waitress Maria
Consistently good no matter where,since 1990 whenever we visit the southeast we always make it a point to stop at a Sonny's for lunch,excellent BBQ for a fair price,and this one was no exception.Clean and well maintained decent service for the times with understaffing.Really enjoy their smoked turkey,multiple sauces,and tasty baked beans.Will continue to seek out Sonny's when on the road.
Lexi was our waitress. We got there around 11:15 a.m. for lunch. She was very sweet and very knowledgeable about the menu and pricing. We ordered the all you can eat St. Louis ribs. She made sure to keep the ribs coming before we emptied our plates and did not let our drinks run out. I would highly recommend this place and definitely recommend Lexi as a waitress!!!!! Awesome young lady!!!!!
The service here was amazing! Servers are very attentive and the food was delicious!
Ordered online for curbside pick up. I figured it would be quicker than dining in or going through the drive-thru, but I was wrong. I waited 40 minutes after the pick up time to get my order and saw two other cars use the drive-thru and leave with their food. Once the food came out, I was notified they were out of a particular side so I had to wait longer for them to get a replacement. I live only a few minutes away and the food was cold. Even worse the brisket was the driest I’ve ever had and they forgot to give me the bbq sauce I ordered. The fried pickles were not placed in a box so they ended up leaking grease onto everything else. Oh and no napkins for clean up.I’ll be ordering from their competitors from now on.
Back in Ohio where I'm from, we don't have Sonny's unfortunately. This was my first time visiting and man they did a wonderful job. Cassie was our server, she was quick, very personable, and funny as well. I've been in customer service and was an assistant manager at a restaurant, she is probably the best server I've ever had.We got the loaded tots as an appetizer, absolutely worth it. We both also got meals; I had the grilled cheese brisket and it was everything I hoped for. I got the mac n cheese as the side and decided to really load it up- put my mac n cheese on my sandwich, drizzle a little ranch and some extra sweet BBQ and smoked BBQ on it. It was comparable to the Pig Rig from the Florida State Fair I had a year ago honestly. Delicious. Sorry my sandwich is like half-eaten btw, it was so good I nearly forgot to grab a picture of it lol.Our total all in all was only about $30, which I think is very fair for the quality and amount of food we got. She even topped our drinks off, which came in a large styrofoam cup, for us to take home.We will be coming here more often! Thank you so much Cassie for being so hospitable, it was much appreciated ?
Where to even start, the food? The service? Atmosphere?I've been to sonny's a few times growing up in my life. This was perhaps the best experience I've had. We were waited on by our server cassie, who was very polite throughout the entire time. When we got our food it was better than I've experienced at other locations and it was absolutely wonderful. The load tots were some of the best appetizers I've had. And the brisket was just what I was looking for . As I chewed it melted in my mouth and was juicy and flavourful. My arteries began to clog with the delightful and happy meal that was delivered to my stomach as if the cows spirit blessed it on the way down. I loved every moment of it while we sat in our comfortable booth and enjoyed the calm atmosphere around us. We loaded our food with the delicious BBQ sauces that we had available to us. And the much needed napkins left on the roll easily accessible to us hinted that this restaurant knew what was up. 5 stars all the way around
The last two visits we were served dried up beef. Possibly round or possibly a chuck beef but certainly not"Black Angus Choice Bristket as advertised."Staff was great and restaurant was clean, that is s the only reason worthy of a 3.Definitely not going back!!
I must agree with the review provided by 68traveler2017. We eat at Sonny's BBQ during trips to Florida and have had nice meals at other locations. After a long trip tonight we stopped by the College Road Ocala restaurant for dinner. While we arrived during the last hour of service we ordered quickly and looked forward to the usual tasty fare. My partner's Pork Three Ways was acceptable but nothing outstanding. Sadly, the baby-back ribs I ordered arrived exceptionally dry - so dry that the ribs could not be cut easily with a serrated knife and most of the meat was completely caramelized onto the plate. There was little real meat to be seen. As I could not eat the ribs, I asked the pleasant waitress for a substitute of pulled pork and she returned with a small portion which was not quite as dry but still not acceptable to be served at a Sonny's BBQ. There were several tough chunks in the mix and it was certainly not moist. While the service was friendly, there didn't seem to be any effort by the establishment to maintain a quality product. Perhaps it was due to staff shortages (certainly no Pit Boss, here!). Perhaps it was the late hour. Perhaps there is little regard for transient customers who patronize infrequently. Regardless, we finished our meals quickly and left, unsatisfied. Sadly, we will not be returning.
