Last year, this was a great place to get shrimp. We ate there 2 days ago and it was the worst shrimp that we have ever had. First of all the shrimp was smaller than popcorn shrimp, and overcooked. Because there was barely any shrimp, they were overcooked and disgusting. Our fries came out undercooked after the shrimp was put onto our table. This place is disgusting and the restrooms are filthy. It should shut its doors. I don't know what happened, because it use to be good. Don't waste your money, you will be sorry.
This is a more casual place. Dishes are hit or miss and very country. One star missing due to unprofessional staff. The sides are all very good. I like the fried okra and hush puppies. The clam strips and fried foods here are better than the most expensive bloody restaurants can offer, and the stuffed fish dishes are at a very good price for quality.
I have been eating there since they first opened. I do believe I had some of the best tasting seafood that I've had in my life! Melt in your mouth good!!! Fried clams were amazing!.
I like all the food I ordered. Taste good. Its delicious. ? We will come here again ?.
I like this restaurant. This time I got the stuffed mushrooms appetizers. They were huge and well done with crab meat stuffing. I ordered the stuffed flounder as before. A good size portion but like everything else (due to a spend happy crooked administration) the cost went up. Waitresses are knowledgeable and on the ball. This statement has nothing to do with this establishment, ( LETS GO BRANDON )
The name gives the impression this place is 5 star upscale restaurant. Well the service and staff are 5 star! This is more of a local family type place with better than average prices and good food. The Gator Bites were tasty. The spread that comes with the crackers was very tasty, especially with a few drops of the Crystal Hot Sauce. My wife enjoyed the clay chowder and fried Oyster dinner. I had the fried shrimp. Everything was cooked to perfection. Our server Harley was so welcoming and friendly. Been there 29 years. People don't stay at a place 29 years if the place is bad. Will definitely be back.
Food could use a little help. Everything tastes like it was cooked in old greese. The waitress was so busy holding a personal conversation that we had to get someone else to help us a couple of times.
My husband and I eat at Sam's often..there has never been an issue with wait, food or service. Customer service was the worst I have ever experienced. Call at 6:10pm and placed a to go order. I was told 30 minutes. Over an hour later, after asking about our order multiple times-and being told the first time "we are waiting on one more thing" (we literally ordered a sandwich with two side and plenty for one with two sides) and when we asked again we told "alot of orders and not made yet and will be out soon" we walked out. Cashier's looked like they didn't want to be there and didn't care about anything. An hour and a half and still no food-unacceptable Sam's!!
Friendly and prompt service. The gator tail was cooked to perfection, so tender and tasty, great and tasty fried shrimp specials. Best lunch I've had in awhile.
We were visiting Ocala and found Sam's St. John's Seafood when in need of lunch. Maybe we wish we hadn't in the end. It appeared to us to be nothing special, not friendly, not very clean and not worth returning to if ever nearby again. We'll pass.
