Had a private dinner with family and friends to kick off graduation weekend for my Now Gator Alum. I found the restaurant online, having never seen it. The staff at Ivy on the Square hosted an awesome night. Dylan our lead waiter and the serving staff were attentive and took great care us. Everything that came out of the bar and kitchen was absolutely "on point" and delicious from appetizers to desserts. The restaurant is beautiful and the private dining room was perfect. They kicked-off our celebration weekend with an amazing experience!
Sorry guys…this place is too pricey for the supposed hand cut steaks they offer. No flavor what so ever. I asked for medium well and they brought it well done. The only vegetables they offered were green beans. The service was okay, but for our large party, they should have had more help. They shouldn’t say it’s a hand cut steak when it’s really a cheap one.
We came with a large party. The cheese fritters and scallop appetizer were both amazing! I had the ribeye and I thought it was awesome. The only drawbacks were my water didn’t stay filled and the bathroom only has room for 2 people max. It’s a pretty big restaurant for that.
Seem like it could have been better. Service was great but food was just OK. Food quality didn't match up to pictures posted by others and all the cloth seats were a bit dirty.
I Brought my mom for a delicious lunch on her birthday today. I specifically picked the Ivy for the fried green tomatoes on the menu (her favorite) which did not disappoint, the southwest sauce is a great touch. We both enjoyed our lunch, the French dip was flavorful and full of meat and the burger was just as good nice and juicy. I took dessert to go home with me 2 hours back to cocoa beach, I'm was excited to see the whip cream is the real deal seeing as it made the trip back and didn't melt!? I'll definitely be sure to try this gem for dinner the next time I'm in town.
When you walk in, you just don’t expect what you see! The decor is so nice , with a low key cozy feel. It’s simply beautiful! The wait for the food was a bit, but was so worth it! We really enjoyed the fried green tomato BLT! The only negative I could even possiblyCome up with, is the food is a bit greasy or overly buttered. But it was still delicious! We will definitely come back!
First time visitor at this restaurant. Had a lovely experience here for lunch with my husband and small children. No wait to be seated (around noon). The waiter was very polite and attentive. We didn’t wait long for our food. My husband ordered the buffalo fried shrimp wrap and I ordered the fried shrimp. Everything was delicious and I appreciate how the shrimp was prepared, separated down the middle to ensure proper deveining. Also, my son ordered a cheese burger and it was cooked perfectly and the taste was even better. My older son enjoyed his meal as well. Lastly, we tried the white chocolate creme brûlée… absolutely amazing. 10/10 would come here just for that.
Had lunch here as a family foursome. We tried the bacon wrapped dates as an appetizer ... delicious, perhaps the best thing we had. A featured item is fried green tomatoes, so I tried the fried green tomatoes BLT and found it to be quite tasty. I was a bit surprised that for the size of the bar they only had a couple of craft beers on tap and no dark beer, a disappointment. My companions were satisfied with their choices, although the gluten free offerings were nothing special. The decor features a variety of antique decanters, a nice touch. I can recommend this as a good spot for comfort food. The location in the middle of downtown Ocala is excellent, within walking distance of the Hilton.
Food was not only overpriced it was lousy. I had cod and it was so overcooked it had to be cut with a knife. not only that but to pay $18 for a tiny piece of cod served not whole but in chunks was totally wrong. My niece had a shrimp with noodles and she couldn't even eat it as her shrimp was way overcooked too, and way overpriced for $22. The only food that our group found reasonable tasting was the fried shrimp. I will NOT return to this restaurant. Oh and we did tell the waiter and he took the one meal off the check since she hardly ate it but charged me full price for a meal that was totally unsatisfactory.
I took my company, my daughter and fiancée, to the Ivy since it’s been one of my favs. Well at least it was a restaurant I went to a couple of times since we moved here and it was good. Well this time was another story. The waiter didn’t bring either the extra napkins and side of dressing that I asked for. My food was almost eaten by the time I saw him again, so just didn’t ask him again. The same was for the black pepper I wanted and had to remind him a second time. He didn’t seem like his mind was on his work. The biggest complaint I have is my daughter ordered her steak medium It came rare and by the time they had cooked her another one (they could have cooked the same one), it was also too rare. Third time around the steak was still rare, but completely charred on the outside. My dogs just enjoyed it. The waiter took it off the bill, and my daughter got to watch us eat and had a few French fries. It ended up being the only time we got out to a restaurant during their visit and I was so disappointed. Sitting outside, which we asked for, was a mistake too because it was so very loud and the area full of exhaust from the road. Waiter didn’t ask us if we wanted dessert either. I had to ask my family if they wanted it being the waitress I used to be years ago. It’s really not that hard to cook a steak and Im thinking that if they don’t know how to cook steak, use a digital thermometer before you send it out and you better make sure it’s done right the second time. In this case, three different times and it was worse the 3rd time. No excuse of that really and the manager should have came out to check on it. I also had to ask the waiter to get a replacement each time. He didn’t bother to find out if it was cooked okay and. He had three times he should have checked. Probably wont be going back. It’s got good reviews and it’s very popular, but Im thinking it’s probably one of those hit and miss restaurants. Sorry about the long review but I just wanted to make the other potential diners be aware of this. One last small thing I forgot, the shrimp scampi was way too lemony and that’s all my future son in law could taste. The presentation was very bland too and the shrimp were quite small.
