BBQ was ok-and I like bland. Just not much flavor to meat or sauces. I had the brisket and hubby had the pulled pork. Coleslaw was creamy but that’s it. Not sweet. Not tangy. We were disappointed as we were watching Rashad on Bobby Flay’s ‘Master of (Bar Be) Que’ and were excited to sample locally. Probably won’t go back.
Rashad Jones' Big Lees BBQ serves up amazing smoked meats that are consistently high quality and delicious. Fall off the bone juicy ribs, melt in your mouth burnt ends and perfectly seasoned tender smoked chicken. So happy to see them add our little town of Belleview to their schedule. And the staff is always super friendly and give service with a smile. Keep up the great work your doing.
I had Big Lees serious about barbecue cater my 60th birthday party with a pan of brisket this pass weekend. Everyone who attended thoroughly enjoyed the brisket. This was not the first time I had them cater an event for me And will be using them again.
Enthusiastically recommended by a friend and finding ourselves in Ocala, we stopped at the Big Lee's food truck a few minutes after opening and were thinking: it was okay. A few details follow. Clearly with a wildly enthusiastic following, Big Lee's operates out of several locations; we were at the mid-town food truck at the time of opening; I was second in line. Wanting the multi-meat sample but passing because it served 3-4 and cost $40, I walked away with the brisket sampler, which included two sides and a drink for about $14 and sat down. The brisket was cooked medium and was fall-of-the-fork tender; no doubt about that. It tasted, however, more like pot roast and had little smoke. It was okay, no better. The spicey fries were nicely cooked and were flavorable. The beans were a bit sweet - probably from orange juice - and had a tomato base; they were okay. There you have it. If I were in Ocala, I'd stop back to try the chicken, sausage and ribs but would not go out of my way for the brisket.
We had them cater out of their food truck at our wedding at Swamp Head. The food was amazing (lots of compliments from guests!) and the staff was fantastic. They were prepared, professional, and super friendly. We appreciate it so so much, and we will be enjoying the leftovers as we recover from a crazy weekend.
I went to Big Lee’s for lunch and it was not good at all! I’ve eaten here many times and it’s usually so delicious but this time my sides were cold, small and unflavored, the coleslaw was horrible and tasted like it had been sitting out all day, the best part was the burnt ends brisket but I had to warm that up too. The worker who waiting on me was very friendly but I will not be going to that particular location again.
We drove an hour and half to try this food and for anyone who wants to try this bbq save yourself the drive and do not come. We saw this place on Food Networks BBQ brawl, so you would expect this to be top notch. When we arrived they only had pulled pork available at 1pm on Saturday when they open at 11:30am. The pulled pork I had was cold and dry, I had it with no sauce. Good bbq shouldn’t need to have sauce on the side to make up for your lack of flavor. When paying $15 for a small portion size, I should expect your food to be amazing.
I think part of Big Lee's success and excellent food is that he doesn't step out of his area of expertise... and he IS the expert on barbecue! I like that he remains focused on what made him famous. As good as barbecue can get. Good size portions, great sauces, tender meat.
I went this week and received luke warm food and barely any. Very dry brisket. Mac and cheese that looked and tasted like it had been sitting there. Looks like pre made. I went some time before this and brisket had hard fatty bits in it. Gave it one last time. I miss when y’all first opened it was good quality.
Hard to make a decision on what to eat! All the food is yummy! Great staff! wear a hat if you plan to sit at the picnic tables.
