I was very disappointed! The food was mediocre at best. PoFolks used to be one of my favorite places to eat in Birmingham. They all closed years ago ☹️. The server we had was very sweet and attentive. The main dining room was extremely cold!!! Fortunately, we were in a back dining room which was fairly comfortable. A couple came in when we were finishing our meal and were asking for a warmer place to sit but were not allowed to come in there. They were told that dining room was closed!!! They said they would not be able to stay due to it being too cold to sit there and eat. I totally agree!!! If we had not been in that dining room, I would have left!! I HATE for my food to get cold before I can even get it to my mouth!!!!!!!
OK. I mean the seasoning was extremely limited, tartar sauce was mayo. The white fish and catfish was great! The shrimp dinner was meh, it came with 1 tbs of rice, that was cute ?.. Everything needs a kick up in flavor, you people ever hear of salt? Old bay? Black pepper even? Once I doctored it up, it was great! The Mac and cheese comes from a bag and the beans from a can. Just plain. Idk seems more geared towards the 65+ crowd than ta southerner. 4 stars cause the staff was great and because the proteins were good after I seasoned them. 2 stars for the sides. 5 stars for the buscuit, 1 star for hush pups. Thanks for the late meal, I worked hard this week and it hit the spot.
It was good to eat at PoFolks again, thank you Niceville, Florida. Last time I enjoyed their food was over 2 decades ago with my parents when Fort Pierce, Florida still had one. In a world of restaurants being a talking point and trending topic, let's make real food relevant again ? ? ? ?️ ? ? .
Had a really nice lunch with the husband. Each plate was a $19.99 Valentines Day special. We ordered a appetizer of fried green tomatoes.($5.99) Although the batter was fluffy, they were quite salty. Not good for people on salt restricted diets. The steak and grilled shrimp was very tasty. The waitress was very nice and kept checking on us.
Have not been to Po Folks in years, but still as good as I remember. Tony was my server, very courteous, polite and efficient.
The food was ok. We hadn't been here in years due to moving out of the area. We were in town for a few days and stopped to try a few of our favorites. Let me first say that we LOVED the fried green tomatoes, they were by far the best thing on the table. We also ordered the country fried steak, it has definitely changed over the years, and no longer something we would order again. Peach cobbler was ok. But I do want to highlight the wonderful service we received from Antonio. He was proactive in refilling our drinks, got our order correct and made sure we had everything we needed.
Country, stick to your ribs, meals. Chicken fried steak was very good, chicken and dumplings I will not partake of again, dumplings are not homemade, more of a frozen noodle thing. Very friendly staff. Came for the okra!!
Every dish without fail for over 20 yes is delicious. Shrimp are better than The Wharfs. Hamburger to die for. White fish, chicken, gizzards, are awesome. There veggies are all good. Great staff even in covid if short handed ..be kind servers are working hard .. Donna and Andy
We ate lunch and found the food and service to be very good. I had the blackened shrimp and cheesy grits & bacon.
Family style restaurant ❤ and the people are so nice. I ordered blackened white fish meal and it was the best tasty meal I had in long time. Looking forward to go back when I'm in town
