I think this might be my favorite restaurant in Naples. It is a real treat to dine here. I love the Sazerac cocktail, the food and desserts are excellent. You can't go wrong with their steak, but the rotating/seasonal options are awesome too. The service is also excellent, Zoran this last time was wonderful.
It's rare that I LOVE all aspects of a restaurant. This was a 5/5 in every way. Food, drinks and service were all top notch and Milos was a fantastic server that was very attentive and knowledgeable.
This is one of two restaurants created by Chef Vincenzo Betulia on 5th Avenue in Naples (Osteria/Bar Tulia is the other). The environment is casual but romantic, harkening back to a turn of the century Parisian brasserie with both indoor and outdoor seating. There is a band (The Dan Heck Trio) that plays on Sundays (not sure about other days). The food is excellent, all ingredients are fresh and high quality (see the pics) - many dishes and pastries are hand made in house. One of the things we noticed on our last visit is that they must be properly filtering the water. We had eaten at another local establishment that (must have) used tap water for the iced tea and the soup ... and you could tell. Here, we noticed that the water translates to the food as well - which seems obvious, but sadly, there are many other establishments not paying attention to such details. No cutting corners here, everything is always top notch. The only thing that could be improved from time to time is that sometimes the wait staff is not as attentive as they could be - but that happens from time to time everywhere you go and it hasn't ever been horrible. If the level of the staff was raised to the level of the food, this restaurant would go from excellent to absolutely amazing!
My wife and I always enjoy dining here and last evening we celebrated our 40th anniversary at The French. The patio seating under fans with a breeze was pleasant and is most popular for summer dining. We had a great server, Rock D., which added to our enjoyment of the dinner. Also, a nice table visit with its stylish and personable manager, Sophia, was an added treat. Drinks are excellent here and my wife had a Raspberry Beret cocktail, with vodka, raspberries, citrus and ginger and I had a mocktail with mango and other fruits and syrups which was delicious. The features a three-course $29 early dining menu until 6:00 p.m. with lots of choices . My wife had the seafood risotto, a delicious salad and the dessert course was a savory plate of beignets. I enjoyed a rich, cheesy, delectable onion soup, followed by a veal loin "schnitzel" pounded thin and fried crisply served with white mushrooms and frenched green beans. It was tender, flavorful and perfectly cooked. I highly recommend this dish, not often served in French restaurants. Aromatic coffee was the right compliment to the beignets. The French has maintained its high standards for all the years we have been coming here. If it is not the absolute best restaurant in SW FL, it is right up there. I have always considered The French a go-to place for special occasions like Mothers' Day, Thanksgiving, birthdays and anniversaries. It is certainly a restaurant that we will revisit again and again.
Wow! This place is amazing! The service was fabulous! Our waitress was one of the best servers we have ever had. So nice and really made our experience wonderful! Add in the scrumptious food and it is now one of our new favorite restaurants in Naples! We went early and had their 3 course meal. Highly recommend their French onion soup, it’s the best we have ever had! Salad was light and refreshing. Our entrees, filet and mashed potatoes & seafood risotto were delicious! To make the meal even better, the last course was beignets with a dipping sauce! Yum! Our 8 year old also ordered their chicken fingers off of the kids menu and said they were the best she had ever had! And she is picky! We cannot wait to go back!! It was great!
Yes, this place is pricey - but it’s well worth the price! The food is so good. It’s not the type of place where you come very hungry ?? but it’s the type of place where you go to enjoy delicate foods and sit in the beautiful environment. We always come here when we’re in Naples.
One of my favorite places to dine and hangout in Naples. Wonderful brasserie food reminiscent of Paris or Balthazar in New York. Amazing wines, fun bartenders, and amazing bar seating on a late afternoon. Go to have fun and/or for an elegant dinner. This place has so much to offer.
Cute French restaurant. We had Tuna tartare as an appetizer and it was spot on. Dinner entree consisted of Salmon which was cooked perfectly with a thin crunch exterior. We also tried the Prime French dip which was one of the best dip sandwiches I've had in awhile Also our server Leo was great ??
We had been looking forward to dinner at The French - hadn’t been for 2 years but wish we’d gone elsewhere. Food mediocre at best - a steak arrived well done when ordered medium rare- when we brought it to the server’s attention we were told, “well, they usually cook it right”! No replacement with another or, at the very least, should have been removed from the already pricey bill. Chicken dish super tough. Onion soup only so so. Would definitely not recommend- we won’t be back.
We stopped in at The French on 5th Ave last night. We always wanted to come here. The meal was fantastic! We ordered from the new summer menu and it is an incredible value. We had the Filet Mignon with mashed potatoes and crisped onions. We also had the lamb tangine stew which was spectacular , excellent flavor profile and spices along with the beet salad and a French onion soup to die for. Elliott our server was professional, attentive and courteous. Jayne the front end manager was friendly and attentive, just great service. There was French music in the background as we dined Al fresco facing the street. And for dessert we had the Beignets, just like Brennan’s in New Orleans. Just wow!!
