We love Applebees and their happy hour! However this location has been going downhill the past couple of years. Service is the worst in the industry! No hostess to seat you upon entering. If you go to the bar, your lucky if you ever get waited on past the 1st drink. The food usually tastes fine and good portions. The older lady at the bar is always complaining about something. She’s worked there for years. The shift manager is rude. I visited there once again today, some lady rudely shouted were closed according to the sign on the “unlocked” door. Said help would arrive shortly. Called 2 hours later, had no employees yet! Time to board this place up!
I like to try out an establishment a few times before I post a review; I ordered food for curbside pickup on two separate occasions.The first time I was missing the dressing for a salad ... Minor detail that does leave the meal incomplete.Second time ordering there were no issues.Staff is extremely friendly but the place seems to be short staffed.
Very good place. Has good food and average prices. The staff is friendly also keep in mind this Applebee's is low on staff. The bathrooms also are shaped a little werid but their clean. Overall it's good to eat at. Here's a picture of a meal. The Applebee's piglet with honey BBQ sauce (may have put wrong name wasn't sure 100%) with steamed broccoli and classic fries. There is also the ribs full slab with green beans and broccoli. Would recommend this place to others.
There was only on person to hostess, seat you, take your order, and serve your meal. The cook brought our delicious meal out, very nice. Our server was fast, efficient, said to be patient she was the only one there and had the bar customers to serve.Our drinks, salads, and meal was served without delay. The side salad was so big, that I had to take most of my meal home. We would drive 45 minutes again to have a meal and service like that.
After eating at Ovide at Hotel Effie, on my way home I got a burger to calm my taste buds back down to normal ?
The food was good but they were understaffed. The manager wasn't very nice to our waiter right in front of us which is unprofessional and it made us realize why they have a hard time staffing it. I think our waiter was new or unexperienced because he didn't clear used dishes right away. We had a big pile on our table by the end of our meal and he had multiple opportunities to take some dirtiest away. Even though we liked the food, that was our take-away from this visit.
Server was on her first week, her words were slurred, she was very slow. Eyes squinted. Seemed like she was on drugs. Had to asked for everything more than once. Was never asked what kind of dressing I would like for my salad & then had to ask for the manager to get it after asking the sever 10 minutes prior. I worked in the food industry for over 6 years & even as a new sever there’s no excuse for the poor service.
The food was good but the service was not. We walked in at 11:30 am. After waiting at the door for awhile, I went in search for someone to seat us. :(After ordering beverages, we indicated we were ready to order our food. Our server promptly sat down across from us and took our order. :(After receiving our food, she never checked on us. The surrounding tables had to flag her down for 1) ask about the beverage she not yet received and 2) for refill. :(Upon her return to the other tables, I tried to get her attention by holding up my empty glass; twice. :(I understand the importance of patience toward staff these days; however, there is no room for poor service.
Short-staffed, but the food was yummy and quick to come out. My steak was perfect, which is rare… just a thin sliver of pink. Customer service was wonderful, despite being short-handed. A few things were left undone, but they were quick to take care of of it after being informed. One of several times that I’ve visited this establishment while in Destin…. May go back before the week is out.
Got to this restaurant around 7:15 and was not seated until 7:45. The place was not busy but was short staffed. My group of 5 waited about 10 minutes for drinks and order our food at that time. A group of about 8 white people and another group of 4 white female came in 30 minutes after we did. The bartender (female), went to the group of 8, serve them drinks, appetizers, and food before we were served. I brought it up to Miranda, our server and she said she was sorry and it's a mad house in the back. The group made comments such as that's how we doit it, and oh! we might have to wait another hour! lol, smirking and making fun of us because we waited an hour and a half. The bartender constantly checks up on them to make sure they were served and was doing well, she even told them that she would make sure they were served within 15 minutes. The group of 4 white female also got served before us. It took another group of 3 white female and a black female to call the manager and told him what was going on. If it was not for them, we would not have been served. I would not recommend anyone to visit that establishment. They showed favoritism and entitlement because of race. The manager gave us 50% discount and apologize for the behavior of his team. My entire evening and that of my wife and kids were ruing. my daughter, wife and I could not even eat our food because we were so upset. I witnessed racism before especially being in the military for over 20 years and travelling different countries and state. But this was not expected especially when I love to visit Applebee's whenever I visit another state. This is an embarrassment to all good people and shame on the people of Destin area and employees of Applebee's that put up with this kind of behavior. Thanks to the group that stood up for us and people that's being put down because of their race, religion, or sexual orientation. I also observed another set of black family that did not get served and end up leaving after just getting their appetizers and drinks. This is an issue.
