The location is cool, part of the city you don’t see unless you’re in the wholesale food business. Very clean and efficient for a BBQ spot. Full bar and good beer selection, fast service (weekday lunchtime). But, now for the reason you actually go eat BBQ. I gave this place a four star rating, because of the above mentioned qualities. But the meat is definitely a 3 star rating. Ribs had very little meat, and lacking a smoke flavor. Pulled poor was fatty and non memorable. Mac and cheese was forgettable. It’s not bad food, but not great and certainly not worth the price.

Everything on this plate was great , with confidence I can say this is some of the best BBQ I've had in miami. Top 5 in my mind. It's pretty rare to find authentic smoked BBQ in South Florida, you typically see cookie cutter spots like sonny's or shorty's where there are no unique qualities or any worthy dishes in my eyes. This place is pretty unique, truly worth checking out if you want some great authentic Texas style BBQ.

HELL YES. 10/10 would recommend The service was phenomenal! Im sad I that I can't remember the waiters name but he was great! The atmosphere there was so cool. We tried literally every appetizer on the menu and they were all great, not one was lackluster! The baked beans were something you just wanted to dive into and cuddle up amongst the beans! The Frito Pie was outstanding, so tasty, so many flavors that all worked together. The ribs were hands down, without a doubt, the best ribs that I have ever had! (Sorry Dad, he would be rolling in his grave if he heard I had better ribs than his!) but they were so different and delicious! I live in WV where I cannot get anything like this, so I will be craving this until my next visit to FL. When I most certainly will be making this place one of my first stops!

This is the BEST barbecue I’ve ever had. It’s about an hour from me, but I’ll definitely be making the trip often. The pulled pork is so moist and just sitting in its own juices. It’s hard to describe the flavor, I’ve never had pulled pork so tender. I got the frito pie with the brisket queso which was also to die for. The macaroni and cheese, cornbread, and beer were also great. Hiiiiighly recommend coming here!

This place near the med school served up the best BBQ beef rib (think Flintstones) I’ve ever had, and I’ve been to 5-10 of the top BBQ spots in central Texas. Their smoked wings, brisket queso, and Asian-inspired rib tips were all excellent, as well. The sides didnt wow me, and the brisket was very very good, though not the best in the city. I know, I’m splitting hairs. I’m knocking it a star for the sides and the mega high prices; I know bbq isn’t poor man’s food anymore, but two of us dropped $200...and we went at happy hour! Still, it’s as close to Texas as you can get in Miami, and I will relish any chance to go back for the epic beef rib alone. Not only was it the best I’ve had, it was literally double the meat as ones I’ve had in Texas for a similar price! So while steep overall, it’s probably similar in price to TX places in all fairness.

Ok so I wouldn’t call myself a bbq expert. But I have been to a few places for bbq in south Florida. And can say the other places had better more legit bbq. Hometown is definitely more trendy and way overpriced. Wow, why don’t they have combo options?! The cornbread was dry but I liked the honey butter glaze. The mac n cheese was ok but I like that they put bread crumbs on it. The potato salad was ok. And the brisket wasn’t as juicy as I’ve had at other places. The best thing we had was the Beef Rib omg that was amazing. But it was also my first beef rib. The banana pudding was mostly whipped cream. I will say the vibe inside is very cool and a modern take on a bbq joint. Maybe I would go again but it’s also a bit of a drive for me.

Yep, many questions: Why so expensive, where's the value, what's the attraction, who would be foolish enough to return to eat here, when did they get the idea that serving mediocre barbecue in abnormally small portions at unrealistically high prices was a good business plan, and how on earth do they stay in business. You do not need to eat here, unless you are desperate for nutrition and your car broke down on 12th Avenue, and you have no concept of value-for-money. The ambience is non-existent and the food is standard fare; the service is quick, but there is nothing impressive about it at all. The final question might be: "Which home town?" It certainly is not one where barbequed meat preparation has been mastered.

Probably the best bbq in Miami. Granted, I have not been to that many bbq restaurants in Miami. Although i believe to be a little overpriced, you really can’t put a price on the hours these meats are smoked for. You can really taste it, and it’s one the main reasons I love hometown bbq as much as I do. Love the openness of their space. Food is served unbelievably quick. My favorite things to get are the tacos, sausage, Mac n cheese (MUST!), and their cornbread.

The BBQ went downhill here. They served brisket and it was under smoked and under cued’. More like pastrami texture. I went back three times in three months and it was the same. The pit master from BKLN needs to come back south and control ops. Also, the cornbread was over baked. The slaw was okay. They charge very high prices and you aren’t getting what you pay for.

The food was incredible. Big portions and very tasty
