4 stars for the quality of food. This is the spot for Jamaican dishes. Food is flavorful, delicious and consistent every time. Meats are all tender & thoroughly seasoned - especially all the chicken (brown stew, curry, jerk) & the oxtails. I really like that the food is served at a hot temperature. Dutch Pot has one of my favorite white rices with that hint of coconut milk. I don't even order the peas and rice anymore. On the other hand, the festival (fried dough) is very sweet and quite dense.Service..... *s i g h* I prefer to go inside so I can ask for gravy on the rice to my liking but it takes twice as long to be served inside as it does going through the drive-thru. They have signs up about being short-staffed but from my observations, on the inside, it's moreso inefficiencies in the way plates are prepared. Put two people stationary on the line and it will fly. The servers get to choose how *and when* they want to make plates, so there are times no plates are being made, even with a line to the door. Meanwhile, the ONE person making the online orders has made 20 plates while customers are standing in an unmoving line. It's maddening. If the food wasn't so good, I'd leave every time. That being said, the drive-thru is a tight fit around the building but moves at a good pace and is a much more pleasant wait in the comfort of ones vehicle.Have to make mention of the $5.99 everyday special plate. It's a great amount of food for one person! This is the biggest meal deal around!Across the menu, depending on the time of day, be mentally prepared for items to have run out. It's either the oxtails ? or the jerk chicken. So the earlier, the better to be safe and satisfied.
Welcome to Miami Gardens! I have been a resident of Miami Gardens for 40+ years. I will say Dutch Pot has come a long way from humble beginnings in Manchester, JA. Thank you for bringing your business to our community. I will wait the 30 minutes in line just for the red pea soup. So full of flavor and hearty ingredients! I am glad you added this location in our neighborhood!
So far the best Jamaican food I’ve had here and the prices are very good especially for the lunch special. The food taste authentic, it’s seasoned nicely. The place was very clean and organized, lastly, the workers here have good customer service and they serve in a timely manner so don’t worry If there is a line you will be served in a timely manner.
So disappointed with the food . Ordered jerk pork instead of being spicy it tasted like sugar. It tasted horrible, it tasted as if there was no jerk seasoning on the pork. This was a waste of $16.
This is one of my favorite Jamaican food places in Florida. At the least in the North Miami region. I'll just share my experience for today. I had a great experience for take out. Although, it is always pack at night, the staff do their best to move out the lines quickly. I parked, then walked into the space, I had to wait in line but it was worth it. It was probably around 10 to 15 minutes I believe. Which is not that bad at all.I was able to get the brown stew chicken, which is one of my favorites over here. It is well cooked and seasoned. I didn't taste any over bearing flavors. Which is a good sign. I can never stop my self from getting the large lol. They give you a lot of food for that size. I may end up getting a smaller size from now on. For personal reasons only. One thing I observed, was when a customer that was next to me complaining about the price the oxtail. I'm not the best at prices for stuff. Since I only have a handful of Jamaican places that I have gotten too. I know for sure they would of giving you a lot of food no matter the price. Matter of fact, there's a Jamaican spot in winwood that I can't remember the name at the moment. It's more expensive and gives you smaller portions. As I am typing away, I remembered this lol. You guys be the judge of the oxtail price. When I saw their oxtail, it looked delicious lol. So y'all can let me know!
FLAVOR GALORE! I had the jerk pork and my sister had the oxtails, both were just bursting with herbs & spices! The staff was efficient, pleasant and friendly. We dined in and chatted with other guests who were first timers there, and also guests from out of town who were referred there. One lady said she could eat the plantains all day. I loved having fried dumplings with my meal. It’s very busy, inside and out, but they move quickly. There’s an everyday meal special for $5.95. I ordered a small sized dinner and ate from it 3 times.
Been coming here for a while now, I have tried most of the items on their menu and I can say that all the food here is delicious, very well cooked, with a lot of flavor and they portions are generous too.Today I had the Oxtail meal with rice and peas, sweet plantains and cabbage, the meat was tender and flavorful, the gravy over rice and peas put the crown on my lunch.Highly recommended.
Today I drove to this restaurant in traffic and in the pouring rain and waited in the drive-thru line for more than 40 minutes to order brown stew fish. I ordered the fish and the employee at the speaker repeated my order. I was handed the bag of food tied tightly in a plastic bag and I really didn’t want to hold up the line any further so I didn’t take the time to untie the bag to check the order. I reached home and realized that I was given brown stew chicken which would not have been that much of of big deal but I’m pescatarian. I called the store and was asked to bring the food back for the refund. At this time it’s around 5:30pm, I don’t live near this restaurant, It’s rush hour traffic and it’s raining. I spent almost $16 to have to come home and prepare food. This was a waste of my time and money. Such a huge inconvenience. I will never return to this restaurant.
Delicious food for reasonable price. Not spicy and the staff is awesome. My new favorite Jamaican restaurant ?
Great food! It taste like home! Plus, this place does not play around. The employees work very fast and are NOT lazy! I love eating here!
