I love a funky look in a hotel room. Just not the same ole same ole. The Pelican Hotel offers that plus a really cool bar, and good food. We stayed before the remodel, and we're planning to go back to see what's up. Can't wait. The service at this hotel is quite good, friendly, not stuffy. The elevator is cool too.
Visiting in South beach, I've stumbled upon Pelican Restcafe. It wasn't as crowded as other places are on the strip of Ocean drive. The hostesses were friendly and sweet.The outdoor seating and indoor seating had a nice ambience touch. Facing towards Ocean Drive. Steps away to the beach. Stylish decor. Pillows on the seats for comfort. The customer service was impeccable.For dinner I had ordered a Bruschetta appetizer and Alaskan King Salmon.The bruschetta came with 4 pieces of toasts. It was perfectly cooked toasted right with a nice crunch. It wasn't soggy. First bite, you taste the crunch and in the middle of the toast it was fresh and soft. For a party of 1, I had eaten only 2. The portion was big for me. I couldn't finish all that.The Alaskan King Salmon paired with asparagus and mixed salad. Soon as I took my first bite, the flavors were lemon and buttery. Can't go wrong with lemon butter! The king salmon grilled cooked to perfection. The skin wasn't soft. It had its slight crunch. I can't get over the flavors! It was so banging. Those flavors were married together. You know when your palates are dancing you are having a good food orgasm in your mouth.Most places can't cook a good salmon. It's either over or under cooked. But for this meal I had it was the best plate ever! Flavors and presentation are key! Kudos to the chef on the plating!
Great place, we were guests of the hotel for almost 2 weeks, so we got a chance to try breakfast, lunch and dinner and we enjoyed everything we had
I liked the coffee but not my lemonade which wasn't real and seriously overpriced.

If you're staying in ocean drive the Pelican is should be your first choice. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, the rooms are very clean and the fact that each room has it's own unique decor and theme makes this place a gem. Thank you Lupe and the staff at the pelican for your hospitality. 5 STAR
