We popped in for a late lunch. Trace got the BBQ chicken meal. I got the turkey meal. We typically order the same meal every visit. We ordered a chicken meal to go for his daughter. (Long story.) She loves the mac n cheese. This restaurant is close to our house and we dine in and order take out frequently. Restaurant is always clean & staff are friendly.
This is a tried and true classic my family has been going here since I was very young and even my pastor who's lived in Florida 40 years ago this was his place. Serving people for generations this place is one that you ought not skip. If you ever go to NASA go to the beach or find yourself in the area this is the place to go the food has somehow still kept its glory after all these years it is certainly worth going to.
Have been in town for work with my fiancé and have seen a couple of Sonny’s while out and about and decided to give it a try before the movies. I had the Brisket Grilled Cheese and it was delicious. I was a little hesitant at first because the menu said it had queso on it so I was worried it might come out soggy. It the case at all and glad I chose that for dinner. My fiancé had the brisket platter and the meat was so tender it was falling off his fork. If you’re looking for some tasty BBQ I would give this place a try!
First, I'd like to say that our server was excellent. For our table of six, she efficiently took and delivered our drink and food orders and was extremely pleasant, personable, accurate and efficient. She knew the menu options and what modifications we could make to each order. Ten stars for her!The food was good and we all enjoyed it. I particularly enjoyed my side of Tater Tots!
We're not huge fans of fast food and usually get Chipotle if we have to stop, but my husband stopped here last year and recommended it for the family. I ordered the smoked turkey sandwich with green beans, husband ordered half chicken plate, kids ordered the Reuben and brisket grilled cheese, both with fries. The food was good - a very nice change of pace from our usual and no one left feeling bloated or too full or that general gross feeling you can often get from certain restaurants. It was also fun trying the various sauces. Sweet and Sizzling we're the two we toggled between most.Huge con - the pricing. A side of green beans (1/2 cup) was $2.99 my sandwich - a nothing fancy Costco-style bun and 3-4 oz of thinly sliced turkey was $9.99.We paid more than I would want to for the four of us ($55 + tip) and we all ordered water - and that makes me hesitant to go back. The waitress, while sweet, wasn't knowledgeable in some things. The half chicken came with a choice of all dark or all white meat and she wasn't able to tell us what came with each. (We asked for clarification, because we thought it was going to literally be a half chicken, which typically gives both white and dark.)I'd recommend for the food, but know that your bill might be higher than you'd expect. Maybe see if a coupon comes in a ValuPak flyer or check online?
We were seated and promptly ignored by anyone for over 10 minutes. I had to go find someone to ask for someone to at least take our drink order. The brisket is average. Pork is slightly above average. Sides were average. For the price I expected better service and a higher quality BBQ.
Both of us had the bowls. Never would have thought to combine these options but both were delicious and enough left for dinner. Friendly service.
Drive thru review-The location of the drive-thru was easily accessible and wide enough for larger vehicles. The menu was clear and they didn't rush you when you needed a minute to review the menu. I placed my order and the girl repeated the order back to me for accuracy. When I drove around to the pickup window, I was greeted professionally and my order was repeated to me and then I was handed my receipt. I was offered all sorts of condiments for the sliced pork sandwich on garlic bread with fries and a freshly brewed iced tea. The pork had great flavor and was NOT dried out. I was offered either bun or garlic bread for my sandwich. I chose garlic bread, which was barely toasted which made it soggy. But it didn't keep me from eating it. The fries were crinkle cut and they were perfectly salted and fresh. Iced tea was fresh - and had melted all of my ice before I got out of the parking lot, but was refreshing.
Absolutely best baby back ribs ever. Awesome bake beans too.
The food was good, the service is good, the place is super clean and the atmosphere is great. The only thing that I can share with you that I wish I had known is they have unlimited BBQ for $25 (not on the menu) and I got the sampler which was amazing but it was $18 and I would have happily gotten the all you can eat.
