Olympia Cafe has been in the Melbourne area for many years. It's been so long that I can't remember the original location prior to them moving to their current location off US-1.The food has always been tasty with good portion sizes, the restaurant is clean and the owner's are polite. Typically, I have the lamb or chicken gyro, but I've also tried several other things including their burger, which has Mediterranean seasoning in it. Overall, it's a good place to grab lunch.
Rude. The first time I came was to pick up an order. There was some minor confusion about the order as it was called in by someone else. As I tried to clear it up, the owner/cook was resistant to correcting the order even though all I was asking was to add some grilled chicken to one of the salads. He appeared rude and angry the entire time. Luckily, an employee came to the rescue. She was super nice. I didn’t write a review then. This second and last time we came, he was still rude and angry! My wife ordered a salad and I brought a sub from elsewhere. He rudely asked if I was going to eat my food inside. I replied yes if that’s ok with him. He was reluctant but accepted us staying. There was only one other customer sitting inside with like 15 other tables open. There is a newspaper article hanging up on one of their walls with a heading stating the business makes their customers feel like they’re home. That was far from the truth for us, for me both times. We didn’t stay.Great food but terrible customer service. Gyro meat isn’t really for me. Even their gyro meat isn’t really for me but theirs is the best I’ve had.
OMG wife and I loved meeting the owner THEODOROPULOS/Teddy the other day when we stopped in to get a pair of Gyros to go. This place is pretty far from home for us but we were near by on errand and I suggested we try this place based on the positive reviews and I'm SO glad we did. Gyro's were AWESOME but the biggest treat was meeting Ted and talking to him about his history, business, wife, etc. So nice to see a successful business owner with a long history in our town doing well and being so positive upbeat we have to go back! Go when he's not too busy so you can get the pleasure of meeting him. He has help but he's basically a one man show for 13 years in this location and I can imagine at lunch hour this place must get busy. We visited about 20 minutes before closing so it was perfect, we spent more time chatting with him than we spent putting our order in.
We had the Gyros platter with the fried potato wedges. The gyros were stuffed full of very tender meat and great fresh veg and yummy taziki sauce. The pita bread was so fresh. I don't know if they make it there or not. It was almost difficult to finish it was so much food, but it was so good, I forced myself. The owners are very nice people too. Highly recommend.
Just ate here today. The Hummus and baked garlic pita chips are Delicious!! So yummy. I also had the shrimp skewers in the Greek salad which was the lunch special and it was all very delicious and I will definitely be back!!

I enjoy this place. When I am in town, I try to get a meal here. I had Gyro Salad, and a nice Greek beer. I love the healthy food, friendly atmosphere, and can't ask for anything more.
