outstanding cheese steak and service!
At first they looked at each other wondering who was going to sit us down, and when they did, they took 15 minutes to serve us, because they completely forgot about us, until I called someone who very carefully took our order and from then on everything flowed quickly; The food was delicious and the dessert was free, as an apology for forgetting us at the beginning?
Was a bit disappointed at my food because I have heard great things about the restaurant. I ordered a steak quesadilla and Boom boom shrimp because I was on a time crunch to get back to work. Appetizers are probably the worst food to judge a restaurant but I would think a steak restaurant would have an amazing steak quesadilla. I will be back to try entrees and give big Jim’s another opportunity but for now was not very impressed. Boom boom portion was not great only got 4 shrimp for 12.99. The quesadilla was the biggest disappointment, I thought a steak place would have an amazing steak quesadilla with good big chunks of steak cooked nicely. But instead I got some kind of meat that kind of looks like cat food. I’m not usually the type to leave a review but was so disappointed because the restaurant is hyped up and has amazing photos etc. The staff was very nice, restaurant was clean and has great atmosphere, but for now was disappointed. I will be back to give it another shot and actually try the bigger entrees for dinner at some point.
I have been goi g to Big Jim's since they opened the orginal sandwich shop on Ulmerton rd. Over the years I've always enjoyed and strongly supported. About a year ago I noticed that the quality and service was slowly and continued to worsen. While I found the over all experience bad. The quality of food was less than each time. Service seamed to be very poor. But last night finally made me see I didn't need to go here ever again. It started with our server, it was obvious she didn't want to be there, no personality and just with that made us just want to leave. As I noticed other servers at tables around us they all seemed to have the same attitude. We ordered our meal, but when it arrived it looked horrible. We asked for hot sauce and peppers and was told she coukd get us one or the other? Finally she said ok. Little did we know there would be an extra charge. I ordered a steak, it was tasteless and very tough hard to even cut. I'm guessing it was old. My guest ordered the chicken flat bread, when asked to custom it with more spice we were told no. The chicken was actually cold, so dry, tasteless and tough you coukd not chew it. We decided to say so.ething, the server sad she would need to get someone to talk to us, really the sever can't address food issues? They offer to get something else. When ordered we were told they would charge us more, no offer to make it right. We agreed what else could we do. When it came to pay the bill,I had some gift cards that I found that I had put away and had forgotten. The server came back and said the gift cards were older and didn't work with their new system, so someone would come talk to us. So a gentleman came over and advised us that the cards were purchased before he had purchased the restaurant, so I asked was he not going to honor them, even though nothing indicated to the customer of new ownership. He did not answer, he just keep saying he was the new owner. So I got a little more instant, he asked why I was getting upset. I explained I had asked if he was going to honor them and he refused to answer. So I told him since it appeared that he wouldn't, I would pay the bill, but assured him I would back, he still said he didn't understand my attitude. He finally said he would honor them, but it was apparent he was not pleased. So I now understand why the quality and service has continued to deterate very poor quality food, bad cooking, and poor service. I wiil not be back, and suggest you stay away.
Great neighborhood atmosphere. Food is always good. Large menu with something for everyone.
If you’re a tourist and looking for some good food this place is the spot. Food is really good and matches the pricing which is affordable if you have a lot of people with you! Inside and outside patio. Which has a big fireplace you can eat in front of! Only complaint is food took longer then I wanted to wait but everything else was awesome!
The food and menu was amazing and the owners are so nice and giving. They allowed us to try samples of the wings in which the famous wings were amazing and also gave us some free drinks while waiting for our food. Its a great vibe And would definitely visit again anf again
Despite having no reservations on a busy evening, we were seated relatively quickly and were greeted by very friendly, professional wait staff. Food was excellent. A bit noisy, but still a very nice experience. Highly recommend.
“It’s worth the wait” we kept hearing from many customers coming out of the restaurant while we were waiting….and boy were they right!!! I went with the New York Strip, best steak I have had in a long time, it was cooked and seasoned petrfectly, no need for steak sauce, and the sides were amazing as well. We finished with the cheesecake, perfectly rich with a “crumble in your mouth” graham cracker crust, you won’t regret ordering it. What truly made the night though, was the outstanding service, our server, Annie was by far the best server I’ve had, I couldn’t finish my water before she was over to fill it, as busy as they were she made it a point to check on us several times, and make sure we were never waiting for anything. Hands down the best restaurant experience!
The food was fabulous! From the enormous delicious onion rings blue cheese topped chips we were all very very pleased with our meal!!!! The best part of our experience was the service!!! Benjamin did such a good job of suggesting what to eat making sure our glasses were filled! taking great care of each and every one of us will we go back to yes we will!!!
