It was fairly busy, I had a table for 6. Food was good. Ribs were excellent. Our Server Beverly did a great job. Only complaint was for the dessert line. While it is a buffet style restaurant and you serve yourself, they had a server for the dessert line and that slowed it down greatly. There were 3 kids in our group and they went through the desert line when they finished their meals and each time it took 10 to 15 minutes to get through the long line. That extended our stay for over 20 minutes. I also want to note that I sat underneath a vent and it was dripping drops of water on me.
Take out dinner for two. ✔️The Fred’s Market staff is consistently welcoming and attentive to guests. Amber, Beth, and Jessica were personable and professional. The restaurant: Clean with a large array of buffet-style home cooking with a southern family atmosphere. Delicious looking deserts… (Didn’t touch) ?Grilled Rainbow Trout, Black Peas/w Green Beans, and Southern-Style Green Beans. Sweet Potato Wedges.Fried Green Tomatoes, Collard Greens, Southern-Style Green Beans, Macaroni and Cheese.
How a Buffet SHOULD be done!I will say, I was a little worried at first when I saw the price ($18.49 for unlimited buffet trips at time of writing), but was pleased to see options such as "veggie only", or even a single plate option for much cheaper...That being said..Anything that you remember your grandmother cooking for you, that took all day to cook... well, its phenomenal here! Pot roast, BBQ, and collards were all cooked extremely well, making this place live up to its motto of Slow Food, Fast.Add to the phenomenal food, some of the best service I've seen in a long time, and you have the makings of a 5 Star Buffet. Well worth the stop if you're in the area.
What a fantastic opportunity to try southern food. We loved it ... and left very full and happy!
We met an old friend who had moved nearby, and she took us to Fred's. What a treat! Southern BBQ cooking at its very best in variety offered and taste! Friendly servers and staff. There was ample provision of healthy hand washing and sanitizer stations, plus bunches of free gloves for handling the serving spoons as you help yourself. A well stocked salad bar for the figure conscious too. The desserts were assembled on individual bowls ready to eat back at the table...it is an old time southern experience not to be missed!
We were visiting an old friend who moved to Lakeland last year, and we wanted to buy her lunch, she knew just the place. Friendly service, lots to choose from, fresh cabbage, trout, bbq pork, corn casserole, etc, salad, and desserts, including very tasty bread pudding.
Had a wonderful time here! Food was superb, variety was like a cruise. Perfect authentic southern-style food. The waitress who waited on us (young hispanic lady) was so sweet!! Environment brought out the best in everybody, from the old country music playing to the southern sweet hospitality and all the antique wall hangings . We were in town for the Strawberry Fest 2022 and Busch Gardens, this is definitely our new go-to place when we visit again. Places like these make you wish they were all around!! 10/10 ⭐️
The waitress Micha was very sweet nice atmosphere. Food was good Southern style and even in old times pots. The dessert ? section I thought would be better with like bread pudding and more variety but overall it was nice. I also thought the rocking chairs outside the front added great country charm.
This place is never a disappointment. Good home style southern food and excellent friendly service. Their safety protocols and hand washing make buffets safe again.
Wonderful old-fashioned buffet. They have hand washing station and gloves so no issues with sanitation. Their fried chicken is better than any of the chain chicken places. Today they had wonderful pork, meatloaf, fish, fried chicken, chicken and dumplings. And of course lots of veggies including fried green potatoes. Don't want to talk about salad and dessert bar!
