Came here because I was staying at the Gaylord Palms for a work related conference. Very well executed dishes and for the area, it was good value - you'll get a high end experience at a lower overall cost compared to other places in the area. I tried the lobster busque, 8 oz Filet with truffle butter, a side of creamed spinach and the white chocolate crème brûlée. All were outstanding, as was the service. If you're in the area and are looking for a nice steakhouse, you won't go wrong here.
Our experience at the over priced Old Hickory Steakhouse. My wife ordered the French Onion Soup. It tasted horrendous. By that I mean like bitting into a glob of high fructose corn syrup with onions, cheese, and Raspberry preserves. We did send it back and they did remove it from our bill. As we also requested they do the same for 2 side orders of their uniquely chalky tasting Mac and Cheese dish. Our daughter and her best friend ended up just eating a salad each. Our Steaks were medium well on the inside as requested but somewhat crisply seared and chewy on the outside top and bottom. We also waited around 45 minutes for our orders. We knew the price point of this restaurant was high. But one expects a certain standard at this level which The Old Hickory Steakhouse fell very short of reaching.
Absolutely incredible experience while staying at the Gaylord. I celebrated my birthday with the best meal I've ever had. Love the atmosphere 10/10 and the service was impeccable. Couldn't have been a more perfect experience.
My wife and I both had the salmon. It was excellent. I also eat gluten free. They worked with me and even brought me a couple gluten free biscuits. They were very good. Our waiter did an excellent job. My martini was very good.
Great location, great atmosphere, perfect for a special occasion! The steaks were good; however, overpriced. I get that the ambiance is included in the cost but, if you are looking to just have a good steak I would suggest somewhere else.
The service was good. However the quality of the food and quantity is not commensurate with the price. The seafood tower for 2 people is seriously lacking. The shell fish was not cracked properly nor were we given any tools to crack it ourselves. When we asked for them they took it away and cracked it again and brought it back a bit later. The black angus steak was ok. Low on taste. Steak does not need much seasoning but this one had almost or nothing. The sides were lacking. The lobster Mac n cheese seemed like the Mac n cheese was reheated several times. Not creamy at all. In fact the pasta was quite dry. The lobster looked like it was an afterthought and was sprinkled on right before serving. Over all. Go someplace else. Not worth it and it’s expensive.
We went as a group of 8 for a birthday celebration. Some of us had never been to this restaurant and it was an amazing setting. Unfortunately it was so dark you could hardly read the menu without a flashlight.! Our server was very informative and attentive. We ordered drinks to start which were much slower arriving then we were told they would be. Two couples ordered the chilled shellfish tower. It looked impressive but the crab legs and shrimp were still partially frozen. There were some accompanying sauces with the tower and usually the server tells you what they are but not in this case. You are left on your own to figure that out. Another in our party ordered a steak med/well but it was more on the well done side. At the prices they charge it would be nice to have something on the plate besides just a hunk of meat. (I know steak houses do that but still…). The sides of mushrooms and truffle fries were good. The Mac and cheese was just ok. All in all it was a nice experience but not a restaurant I would return to any time soon.
BEST RESTAURANT AT GAYLORD PALMS! The service, the food, everything was great. Sooo much better than their other fine dining place, Moor. Saeed was our waiter and he was beyond attentive. He noticed that we didn’t eat the lobster bisque and took it off the bill when I mentioned it wasn’t my favorite. (First time something is taken off the Check at the waiters initiative) Yes, the price is a little high but compared to what we got at Moor, it was well worth it.:: you’re at a resort, so price should not be a surprise. Overall a super nice evening.
Excellent experience and food! Special thanks for our fantastic server, Saeed (from Morocco), he was very attentive and knowledgeable! We will definitely be dining again in the near future!!!
The steak was awesome and the service was great.
