When Mattheessen's says it's homemade-they mean it. So glad the family who owns this business continues to make everything, including the ice cream, from scratch, from fresh ingredients every day! They are amazing!My family loves visiting Key West and Mattheessen's is always at the top of our list of places we have to go back to. We even mention it at other times throughout the year, wishing we could have some of their frozen treats and wishing they could franchise nationwide!It's a true Key West institution. My daughters were tiny, getting off a cruise ship and getting a giant cookie, and over 20 years later we still love to go get one of those giant cookies to recreate the photos of them sitting outside with their cookies in hand. It's still the same.This is a family run business, you will see them all working every day, (they have late hours, which is also fantastic) they are so friendly and you can tell they really enjoy and care about their product and their customers.
Giant, delicious cookies. You can smell the deliciousness just walking past and we couldn't help but stop in. We got a macaroon and chocolate chip cookie - both were amazing.
This gem was recommended to us by a local and we have zero regrets in trying it! The ice cream is phenomenal and is counteracting all the walking I've been doing while in Key West. The cookies are HUGE and completely addictive. We have tried the kitchen sink, the sugar and the chocolate chip. So far... I had trouble choosing between 3 ice creams so they gave me smaller portions of all three to equal the single scoop. They also have smoothies, floats and coffees but we haven't tried those yet. Very friendly and helpful staff! They do have a fee to use a card, that's the only negative so bring cash and enjoy the variety of flavors.
The coconut macaroons were scrumptious ? perfect combination of soft, almost creamy coconut with a chocolate dipped bottom. And they’re gluten free! ?❤️

Homemade cookie as big as your head. I know I was on a bike ride, but it is a must try cookie. On a hot day in the keys everyone was enjoying the ice cream as well.

The cookies were huge and delicious. Everyone bought at least 1 sometime throughout the week we were here. Ice cream was good too.
My daughter and I tried Key Lime pie at all the top spots in Key West and this was our favorite. It was perfect. The huge peanut butter cookie is also incredible.
