We just had Saturday lunch and it was nothing short of sublime. We didn't have a reservation, as we didn't realize it would be so busy. Melinda, was a doll and got our party of 4 a table. So nice. We had conch fritters (the best in Key West so far), shrimp and grits, chicken and waffle, the quiche and a burger. All were so delicious. The view is spectacular. My only complaint is the seagrass is a bit smelly today but the restaurant can't do anything about that. All in all a great experience and we can not wait to return.
This is a must go to place if you are in Key West. Service was perfect, friendly and added to our wonderful dining experience. The chicken sandwich with avocado was delicious as was the tuna burger. Robbie had the grilled octopus, incredible, as was the conch fritters. Highly recommend the mojito and the chocolate martini. Along with the water views this is a perfect lunch dining experience. We went there on bike as parking is always an issue.
Went to visit for the first time with my family and will NEVER go back. The front hostess extremely rude and snobby. She looked at our family up and down when we came in and was visibly annoyed we had children with us. She treated us like we were below her and had the audacity to come to our table after we received our check and told us she had a reservation coming and we needed to leave our table within ten minutes. All while we were still feeding our 2 year old daughter her food. Never in my life have I been to a restaurant where we were told we needed to leave our table while still eating! My husband asked to talk to a manager and she told us she was the manager. He asked her name and she refused to give it and he asked who was above her and she ignored him. I am writing here so I hope the owners are aware of her behavior because this is the type of person who will ruin your reputation. If she is an owner no one should give this place a dime. Disgraceful.
You must make reservations for Louie’s. It’s that popular. We came to Key West to celebrate my 65th birthday and my husband‘s 60th birthday. It’s of our favorites when we come to Key West. We requested a table on the upper deck for the view of the ocean. JR was our server, engaging and provided great service. Our family of five started out with cocktails and then ordered a couple bottles of wine for dinner. Our family shared the bacon wrapped scallops and the cracked conch appetizers. Both were very tasty. The scallops were large and tender wrapped with crisp bacon, and the conch was pounded flat and then fried. It was an elevated conch fritter with hot pepper jelly and a wasabi cream. I had the fresh catch which was grouper, which was perfectly cooked, moist and flaky. It was served with udon noodles. Very much an Asian dish. To end the meal, JR came with a dessert with a candle to recognize the birthdays. I had called the restaurant two days before asking if they could do something special. Unfortunately, they couldn’t do their little cake because their baker was gone for the weekend. How can there not be a pasty chef on a weekend? So I asked if they could at least write on the plate “happy birthday” with my husband’s name since he was turning 60. An upscale restaurant should be able to handle that, but they couldn’t or didn’t do it. I did appreciate the candle on a piece of pie, though! I recommend Louie’s for the food, service and view. but know this restaurant is pricey. We come here every visit to KW, but as I said, make sure you make reservations and request the outdoor deck if you want to have the view while dining.
Went for lunch and enjoyed the outdoor tiered patio seating oceanside. Wished we had stayed for another cocktail! Food was great. Drinks were great. view was great. Pricing was a little high, but then, that is the Keys. Gave it a 4/5 because it's not the best meal you'll ever eat in your life, but good food in a great location.
Visiting Key West for a month, high hopes for this place. Greeted by a very rude server who then told us to see the manager for a table & looked my husband up and down he was so very angry, never been treated like that. We went upstairs to be then ignored. Very pretentious, rude staff , your loss would have visited frequently as local to our accomodation.
Beautiful location, great food. I had the fresh catch(grouper) and it was amazing. My wife had the beef filet which was cooked rare but unevenly. My only complaints would be the constantly crying baby and the fact we got sat right next to a busy walk way so we constantly had people stomping their feet loudly around us, the mojito was unmuddled, and they didnt use espresso in the espresso martini, overall the bartender seemed inexperienced. Also the lemon cheesecake was great. Our server Johan was alright but not great. I would go again in a heartbeat though.
All of our friends, fromTX and OH recommended Louie’s. Our last lunch in Key West before we catch the boat to Marco Island in a few hours. Our appetizers were outstanding: charred baby octopus, conch chowder, and green goddess salad. However, MY entree, recommend by Jennifer, an outstanding server…lemongrass grilled chicken with Thai fried rice and sweet chili sauce! Wow! Photo attached! Right.
My husband and I have been to Key West many times but never to Louie’s Backyard until this trip, since it’s close to Casa Marina where we’re staying. We’ve been missing something awesome! The place itself is really cool. It has 3 levels of decks plus inside, which is where we ate because it’s air conditioned. The view of the water from the deck is beautiful. We went for lunch and split the bacon-wrapped shrimp with avocado and passion fruit in an absolutely delicious sauce made from passion fruit, honey, and a spicy cumin. We licked the plate!! And the bread is fresh baked and crispy outside and soft inside. Since we had split the shrimp, we ordered the conch fritters that came with a sweet and spicy Thai sauce. They were really good too, but the shrimp was so good that we came back a second time to get it again! The service was also excellent both times. Wilber was our server the first time. He was great and a lot of fun to talk to. He and my husband had a lot in common, especially love of flying airplanes. Flick (cool name, cool story-you’ll have to ask) was our server the second time. She was awesome. Super friendly and she even told me how to make the shrimp dish myself when we get home, but I don’t think it’ll come out as well as here…simply scrumptious! And what was also cool was that Wilber came over to greet us with a hug too, since he recognized us from the previous visit. I’m telling all my friends and relatives about Louie’s.
Had a lunch at Louie's Backyard. The food was actually pretty good, a nice salad and a prawn starter. Both very pleasant It kills me though that I'm expected to offer up 20% service for what I had to endure. ( I gave 15%, I don't know why ) I had to wait 15mins for a drink, the barman was on his own although it wasn't super busy. His constant chatter was beyond irritating, he just couldn't stop talking and he was incredibly loud. When the tourist patrons that had to endure it started to talk he would just talk over them Shame really. Food is decent but service very poor. A few people told me the same.
