So I came here with a group and it was our first time. The atmosphere is beautiful and our waitress Courtney was great. The biggest setback that we had was their payment policy. Due to people walking out, you have to swipe your card separately each time you ordered something. If you wanted drinks and wanted to wait for food, you have to swipe your card. And then yo gratuity would have to swipe again when you’re ready to order food. And then would have to swipe again should you want to order another drink. So this means tax is included on each item. That wasn’t as much of an issue with us. But what was the issue is the fact that we had a party of more than 6 and were going to be charged 20% gratuity each time! This means each time we were to swipe our card, we were being charged 20% gratuity. When we wanted more clarity as we had never heard of a process like that, the manager was very dismissive and acted as though she could care less if we understood or not. That was the worst part. Whispers has literally had several spots that have closed for various reasons. Regardless of any of those, I like to at least give it a chance to see what it’s like. That was a horrible first impression and turned us off completely. I’m hoping that maybe things change to make that process fair to customers.
Drinks watered down, and over priced.. They charge 20% gratuity and they don't seat your party. They don't bring you your drinks to the table, or a menu or your ? food... Basically it was like I worked there.... I had to go to the bar for everything.... No customer service at all.. Highly do not recommend... Everything is too High in this place for mediocre to non existent service... ? waste your money
DO NOT GO HERE TO EAT. They definitely need to only serve drinks. Arrived at this place starving, ordered crab cakes which were nasty . I then ordered a crab boil bag which came to me in a net. It tasted like straight up mop water. Crab legs were ICE COLD. Potatoes tasted old(sour). The sausage was burnt and the eggs like how do you mess up eggs?? Save your money and time. I ended up getting a refund!
Went on a Wednesday night. Drinks are nice and strong for the price you pay. Food was good and seasoned well and came out fast. Vibe was good. Only thing was security/ bouncer was rude as hell. Like just angry for no reason.Also they need to update their hours I wouldn’t have game if I knew they closed earlier than advertised.
Taste is below average. They don’t check on you. Barely any napkins on the table. I had snow crab legs, corn, shrimp, and potatoes. Better off at Juicy Crab or somewhere. Vibe was there though.
I had a 7pm confirmed reservation 1/28/22 and I was told they didn't have it smh. I was then told to sit at table 19. Later 1 of the workers told my friend we were sitting at someone else's table. The table was reserved for 2 ppl Hill 7pm. At 8pm they still werent thereFirst and last visit not flavour.
Perfect spot for drinks and good music but the food service needs to be addressed. You may want to stop by somewhere else and get a bite before going because for some reason they don't allow you to order food when you arrive. I will say once the food did come out it was good but was a cluster with food service. Asked one lady for a drank at the bar and she said she don't fix drinks, and just walked off. Didn't go get someone who could or nothing.
My food took a long time to come to the table and the corn on the cob was cold in the middle, I only got one small potato for $3... Never got the water I ordered. The oysters were super small. I wish my experience was better. Paying and tipping upfront and not getting the service you deserve is not good business.
I'll give it 2 stars for convenient downtown location and excellent DJ/music! But OMG they have the worst service of any establishment I have been to in Jacksonville. The barmaids appear to have a SERIOUS attitude for no apparent reason (especially with other women). They don't assign/send waiters to tables, not even reserved tables, to take food or drink orders.....They behave as if you are bothering them by approaching the bar. It should never take 30-45 minutes to get one drink. This could be an excellent lounge if they would only hire and/or train their staff much much better.
One of a kind place here in Jax. The food was great. I ordered Whisper Crab boil Combo 1 and my wife had the fried shrimp basket. Of course I ate from orders lol. The crab boil was and ajou from the boil was very tasty. The fried shrimp seasoning and breading was perfect. Now the drinks, has gotta be the strongest in town!! Yes I am very appreciative too! Lol my wife had a wonderful time and the staff was also excellent as well. I suggest going on a Thursday.
